The myths and legends that surround just where Gargoyles come from are ancient. Some point to pre-biblical times (when they may have been a form of The Annunaki). Other point to Fallen Angels. Gargoyles are place in good and evil types (mostly malevolent). Not preferring human company, they were said to live high above them (on hill top and mountain tops). As Man evolved, and build cities, The Gargoyles followed. Whereas the tallest building in a city was normally a Church or Cathedral, it was nature for these creatures to live among the Bell Towers. They are said to watch over the City. While they will not intercede for all crime, they are said to stop acts against orphaned children and unwed mothers. Other Regional legends tell of a Gargoyle's not being able to exist in daylight. With the first rays of the Sun, a Gargoyle will turn to stone (which is why during the day they are statues). With the first rays of moonlight, they will re-animate. Humanoid, they have large bat-like wings. They are capable of flight. Gargoyles have devil-like horns. This gave them their linkage to The Devil in The Middle Ages (and were shunned).
