A common sight in many Indonesian Temples, are large and bejeweled Statutes called ‘’Gajah Mina’’. These are said to be huge, Sea Creatures – recorded by Fishermen of The Region for Centuries. Part Protector and part ‘’Demon’’, The Gajah Mina is a part Elephant and part Serpent. Noted for it’s long Tusks, it was common for ancient Fishermen to make a ‘’blood sacrifice’’ before any fishing nets were allowed to touch the Sea. After suitably venerated, Gajah Mina ‘’allowed’’ for successful catches. Over the Centuries, The Mia were likewise venerated by placing Their images as Icons on Temples. But in an example of ‘’Legend becoming possible Reality’’, in 2005 a large ‘’Blob-like’’ carcass washed ashore in Rihau. The decomposing carcass was unrecognizable, save for a pair of long Tusks. Maybe proof?
