Dating from 14th Century Korean Culture, The Dokkaebi were Goblin-like creatures who were somewhat malevolent to Humans. They are not Ghosts of Humans, but the Spirits of inanimate objects used by Humans. Articles stained by Human blood can also become a Dokkaebi Spirit. Great debate arises with the actual physical appearance of The Dokkaebi. Some cite a Humanoid look with others a somewhat ''animal'' visage. A common form of Dokkaebi protection (or rather to ensure that one does NOT create a Dokkaebi), is to build one's home with ''Dokkaebi Tiles''. These small ceramic slats bear a brightly painted image of a Dokkaebi. The Dokkaebi are found in most Korean Spirit myths. They can be helpful or harmful but not so much as to cause actual death or injury. Some Villages invokes them for plentiful fishing harvests while other invokes their power to stop fires.
