Dante's Inferno - 4th Circle of Hell - Greed

Dedicated to those who on Earth were Greedy – The 4th Circle of Hell is a Realm of pain and regret. To those who hoarded possessions and care not for others needs, there are several classes of punishment. The first, is that some wander the lavishly apportioned City built their – poor, with no possessions. They see Demons living in wealth, much as they did on Earth. They are doomed to have nothing and starve – Eternally. For others, they have all the weight of their Earthly possessions ''converted into weights'' worn about them in chains – dragging them around for all Eternity. It should be noted that perhaps 19th Century British Writer Charles Dickens ''based'' the Ghost of Jacob Marley (Ebenezer Scrooge's Partner in life), - who ''carries His heavy ledgers chained to His chest, on ''reading'' Dante's work. The 4th Circle is Guarded by Demons who were transformed into The Poor, so sued to beat and scourge those who try to escape.
