From various Caribbean Island Peoples belief, which is linked to Folk Magic – ''Dame Lorraine'' is a primary figure seen during The Carnivale Celebrations. Most South American Nations as well have a version (to include The United State of Louisiana – eg ''Madi Gras''). Dame Lorraine is possibly associated with a Loa (Spirit). Her origins were linked to 17th and 18th Century AD French Colonials (Aristocrats), who celebrated various Catholic Feast Ceremonies. The poor would often not attend, due to their ''shabby clothing''. It is said that Dame Lorraine manifested Herself – clothes in great finery, and joined The Festival (much to the shock of The French Planters). She is portrayed as a rather ''stout'' Black Woman, with large (ample) ''endowments''. To this day, ''someone'' will attempt to imitate Dame Lorraine during Carnivale., or perhaps it IS the Loa Herself!
