A small wooden, two-sided drum which is hand-held, The Damaru Drum is a component of some Sects of Hinduism religious rituals. Said to have been ‘’made’’ by The God, Shiva – the drum’s ‘’beat’’ – which is activated by a small rock or bead, attached to a string in the center. A constant ‘’rocking’’ motion of the hand causes the connected bead to strike one drum face or the other. The ‘’sound’’ is said to be ‘’pleasing’’ to Spirits, and will ‘’draw them to’’, The User. Sometimes, The Damaru is used to create a type of trance-like state, which - after drawing a Spirit into The Physical Realm, will allow ‘’it’’ to inhabit a living person. As long as The Drum beats, the Spirit will reside as such.
