In Ancient Chinese Mythology, The ''Dragon King'' was a ''Celestial Deity'' which had ''9 Sons''. One of them was ''Chiwen''. He was tasked with the ''swallowing of things'' – in particular Evil, Wrongdoing and Demons, which could plague Mankind. Described and shown in Art as a ''Hornless and quite small Beast'', the habit of placing carved versions of Chiwen on buildings was seen as a way to protect the structure against any Evil.
