A bit of historical "inaccuracy", the story of infamous Pirate Captain Edward Teach's "sword" goes with the discovery of his equally famous ship, "The Queen Anne's Revenge". Located off the Coast of North Carolina (US) in 1997, many artifacts have been brought to the surface. In 2011 however, a partial section of Sword was discovered - which was touted as "Blackbeard's Sword". The piece is actually the handle of a ornate 18th Century Sword. Possibly a ivory handled Model, the Bar-style Hilt is still present. None if the blade survived the more than 400 years of submersion in salt water. Although part of the wreckage of "The Queen Anne's Revenge", it was more likely captured from a French ship and was a Ceremonial or Dress Sword. More than likely it was not used as a fighting blade. Still, it is very possible Teach claimed the sword as part of his "share" and may have held the blade many times.
