Augury was an Ancient Roman religious practice of foretelling future events by observing the flight of various species of birds. This was normally reserved for skilled Seer's (Mediums of a kind). The practice was deeply rooted in The Kingdom Period (Archaic). It was said that such a feat of Augury was responsible for the foundation (location) of The City of Rome itself. Augury was also practiced in Ancient Greece as well in particularly in Sparta. The supporting ritual of a Seer releasing a bird and watching it in flight, gave Him or Her the ability to determine how a War or battle would be won or loss. Even the continued Reign of a King or Emperor was often ''checked'' with Augury. Later when the previously discussed Augurs (Specialized Priests) came into being during The Republic Period, these Men (no Women), would still use birds for forecasting events. However, these Priest adopted the name more than the ancient practice.
