In Welsh Mythology, ''Annwn'' was the pre-Christian Belief in The Afterlife – or more appropriately, ''Paradise''. This ''unearthly realm'' was said to be located under the Earth (or in-between). Too deep to be reached by ''living'' Humans, only a Spirit could reach and reside in Annwn. The ''Land'' was a paradise of plentiful and never ending food sources. A Spirit (or the physical manifestation of it's past ''Human Life''), was made ''new'' (young), and never aged. The association with Annwn and the later ideology of Christianity's ''Eternal Paradise'' was very similar.. Still, for many Centuries, Annwn would become a staple of Welsh Mythos Literature, that Writer JRR Tolkien based His ''Middle Earth'' Land as the setting for ''The Lord of The Rings''.
