Another mythological weapon mentioned in the 9th Century Epic Poem "The Song of Roland", ‘’Almace’’ is also called "The Sword of Turpin". Turpin was a Bishop of Charlemagne that supposedly died with Roland in battle. Made by Charlemagne's famed Swordsmith, Weyland,  when made, Almace was presented to The Emperor. Charlemagne promptly thrust Almace into a block of steel. It sank to "a hands breadth". Suitably tested, it was then presented to "The Fighting Bishop". After the death of it's Master, Almace's fate became unknown.
