Increasing the Outlaws' Javelin Speed

Recommended Posts

Is there a way to increase outlaw's javelin speed? Because they are pretty useless without them. Also, How do I start a new forum?

To increase the Outlaws' javelin speed, do you mean you want to decrease the time between it being thrown and spawning again? You can definitely do it in Stronghold Legends (which I've been meaning to do a tutorial on actually), so there will be a way in Stronghold 2 as well. But, it is different, I'll have a look for it and let you know when I find it.

Decreasing the 'recharge' time, really otherwise the outlaws are pretty much useless. Also, what is that medal under my name on here?

They are pretty useless without them, I would agree there, but I suppose no unit can be invincible. Before I attempt anything could you tell me which game version you have?

The medal is based on your rank, yours currently is a Squire so you have a red one. With every increase in your rank, your medal becomes more decorative. Just a nice add-on really :) You upgrade your rank based on your post count. Your rank also affects what privileges you have on the site; the higher your rank, the more privileges you have. See here for more info on that.

OK, unfortunately our DNS was being updated when sh4d0wknight474 replied to this topic and he posted to the old server so the reply was lost. Luckily, I still managed to get the reply notification, and know what version he is using. For the benefit of other people following this topic, the response is shown below.

Apologies for your post being lost, I assure you though it won't happen again. I'll attempt to find the files and change it now, however, please do note that because it is the 1.4.1 version if it is a heavy modification it may not work.

OK, though it is far from perfect yet, I have only briefly looked, and I haven't really got concrete details on what you want I have got something small working.

1.) Go to /stronghold 2/meshes/units/models/ and find "dagger_outlaw.GR2". Copy and paste the file "spear_lo.GR2" and rename it to the first name.

2.) Go to /stronghold 2/meshes/units/animations/soldier/ and find the files:

"outlaw_attack_spear_e.GR2" -> "outlaw_attack_spear_e_backup.GR2"

"outlaw_defend.GR2" -> "outlaw_defend_backup.GR2"

Copy and paste the file 3 times: "outlaw_attack_spear.GR2"

Rename the copies to the files: outlaw_defend.GR2, outlaw_attack_spear_e.GR2, outlaw_attack_dagger.GR2

Tell me if this is similar to what you want.

If you can answer the following questions it will help more.

1.) Would you like the outlaw to defend themselves with the dagger when they get in close proximity to an enemy and hold the spear the remainder of the time, or would you just like them to fight with a spear all the time

2.) If the answer to the last question is the latter option, would you want them to fight in the same way spearmen do when they get close, or would you want them purely to always throw?

Hey dude thanks much appreciated :)

And well, I'm not sure, but outlaws are more of an ambushing unit so I think they should keep the spear throw as their ONLY attack, it makes them much more threatening and dangerous in missions where deployed, and really without them, there is no point in building a mercenary post w/out them. In other words, I would like them to 'purely throw'.

Did you make any progress to this in the end? I tried what you put and it makes the throwing animation replace the dagger attacking animation.

My laptop has broken and I'm currently using my old Windows 7 machine, so it will have to wait until I have that fixed. But I'm guessing that you may be able to change the animation in the meshes/units/models/animations folder (I think that's right off-hand)

I think I may have solved it although it's hard to get into specific situations where the outlaw uses his javelin and when I go into map editor and play, the player keeps crashing (looking at your tutorial now). I replaced the physical meshes as well and some other animation files and the outlaw seems to stop and throw rather than go hand to hand with the enemy. However, I'm not entirely sure and I am still testing to verify this, will keep you guys posted.

      Hello, in my exploration of old versions of the game for both nostalgia and trying to find some things out, ive found numerous things. Hey everyone, I have a bit of a problem here. So, I'm working on a war custom map and used the SH2-to-S2m file trick to place some ruins and give myself some additional outlaw units to place across the map.   Everything was going fine, until the outlaws I placed a started gradually migrating towards my castle and attacking my buildings.?   To compound this, many times my troops won't take any command orders; I order them to attack a unit, and they just stand there. Other times, they will move of

      So currently I'm experiencing a few problems with my laptop lately and I was wondering if anyone has suggestions on improving a few areas such as: A) Getting a new anti-virus: I have finally managed to uninstall AVG and I'm looking for a new program that doesn't act dictatorial by blocking every useful program or game. So far I have MalwarbytesPro and Bitdefender on my sight but I'm still not sure which one to choose. B) My computer memory on disc C at some point was supposedly full and then som

    • Increasing Hunt Rate of Hunter

      Increasing Hunter Kill Rate I found this nice little trick which allows you to have a faster hunt rate with hunters. I found it because I knew that archers in SH2 had a much faster fire rate than hunters, and thus their animations would have to be faster. You will want to go to this directory: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Firefly Studios\Stronghold 2\meshes\units\animations"   And you will see this:     Remember to back up your files.   While here, you will need to go to the "worker" and "soldier
