Mathew Steel 151 Posted September 28, 2014 So I've been picking up on some new things within SHC2. Also some things that aren't new but I like and I thought I'd share some with you! Gameplay-This was apparent in SH3 but has been improved in SHC2. Pressing + or SHIFT and + if you do not have a NumPad, changes game speed. Troops/Units-Barracks rally point. Allows you to set the rally point for all units in the barracks/mercenary post. You can then create exceptions by placing unit rally points.-Siege camps can be placed in any neutral land/your own land/allies land. Engineers are not needed to create equipment. Villages/Estates-Carter posts are placed by AI -Carter posts send recommended goods to your castle depending on what resources you currently have and what you need.-Estates/Villages have small keeps to place troops in and to defend. Walls/Towers-Different type of lords have different looking buildings/walls/towers. Along with new names and different resource requirements to build.-Walls are automatically crenelated. Buildings-Arabian lords can place a mosque, while Crusader lords can place a church. These too have their own graphics. This is just what I could think of, off the top of my head. Next time I pick up on some I'll be sure to write them down and add them here. Feel free to add some new features that you like within the game. Post in the reply :) 0 "Gofyn wyf am galon hapus, calon onest, calon l?n."
EaglePrince 230 Posted September 28, 2014 "-Different type of lords have different looking buildings/walls/towers. Along with new names and different resource requirements to build."I wasn't aware of this one - interesting indeed! I would only like to add that some of things you mentioned were included in older Stronghold games, such as game-speed hotkey: one could click + or - to increase or decrease the speed of game. Also, barracks rally point, that is something that all Stronghold 2 players know about, but it is also available in Crusader 1 and Stronghold 1 - after selecting barracks you could click "4" for example, and this way, you would be able to put rally point for the forth unit from the barracks. Similar works with engineers guild and mercenary post. :) Speaking of siege camps - I hope they would make it in such a way that AI could build his siege camp only when at least on his unit is near. In Stronghold 2 AI lords can build their siege camps deeps inside your territory. I don't know about Stronghold 2 multiplayer games, but if humans could do that same thing, that might get misused, but luckily for me, in Stronghold 2 I played only with men who fought with honor. :) 0 Stronghold Crusader faces and shields Stronghold Europe website
Nigel 71 Posted September 29, 2014 (edited) The most intreaguing new thing I have read about (not yet found in pracitce) is the fact that villlages now recruit their own troops. Apparently they will defend the villlage and can be controlled by whoever is the current owner of the estate. I have not seen it, simply because I haven't gotten round to playing a map with a village on it, yet. But it sure sounds interesting. Mathew Steel 151 Posted September 29, 2014 That is something very cool. I myself have not seen such a thing, but now you have mentioned it, I'll keep an eye out! 0 "Gofyn wyf am galon hapus, calon onest, calon l?n."
Lord_Chris 251 Posted September 29, 2014 That does sound good, I must admit it's something I've greatly wanted since I first played Legends when it came out. 0 Quote The fields have eyes, and the woods have ears. Nigel 71 Posted October 10, 2014 (edited) One new feature that I have quite come to like is the charge ability, that macemen now have. When they are close enough to an enemy and you click on the enemy to attack, the macemen will run into a charging attack with a battle cry and loud bohey. On impact they will do a lot of damage, much more than in normal hand-to-hand fighting. That will be over in a few seconds and they need to rest to regain their strength after it, but it makes for some really nice battlefield taktics. Really good is to hold the enemy swordsmen with some pikemen or other defence strong units and run your macemen around to charge into their flanks or rear. I hav eliminated a lot of enemy swodsmen that way xD Edited October 10, 2014 by Nigel
Lord Vetka 63 Posted October 11, 2014 I believe there is a village barracks that can be added to a village when making a map, I have played a few maps with villages and have seen an extra building for the troops. The merc camp has a few new faces, there is now a healer, something I found about the healer is you can have them stand by your troops and they will slowly heal them, but when they stop, you can move the healer a bit and bring him back and he will start healing right away again, other wise it takes a while. There is also a troop cart where you can put 6 archers in to one and have as many as you want, the only thing I did not like is you can't get the troops out of them unless they are destroyed, I did an attack with 8 carts and as they got close to the castle the cart would get destroyed and the archers would stand there or try and walk away:=( The siege towers are a bit of a let down, the ballista has a long range, but a bunch of archers can take one out pretty fast.
Mathew Steel 151 Posted October 11, 2014 Yes this is true, the village barracks is only placeable through the map editor. Healers will heal all troops 1 by 1 in their range. So having 2 healers will theoretically heal 2 units at a time (if they're in range) etc etc. The Wagons are quite useful I agree. I myself don't like using them but on some learning campaign missions they are of great use. I don't like the siege towers myself, not just the durability or the damage but I prefer the old SH2 towers. Where siege equipment was placeable on all towers. 0 "Gofyn wyf am galon hapus, calon onest, calon l?n."
