Lord Barclay? Interesting, why him?

Just so you understand when I said 2 sets, I meant 2 seperate walls :)

I very rarely use two sets of wall, I occasionally use a wall for the keep and station crossbowmen on there though.

He's the toughest, meanest of all the AI, or at least that's how I view him, I like his castle layout and his grand keep.

That is true. He is by far the most challenging AI lord in the game. Even in kingmaker he is portrayed as that.

Sir William is my favourite because of how noble he is. He has good morals and although not overly powerful he has a decent castle and army!

I like Lord Barclay because he's not noble. I find those kind of lords boring ZzZz

See it's all about preference. I find all the lords amusing (except for Edwin, he just makes me want to scream). I've always been more of a good guy when it comes to games.

What path did you pick in the campaign? Lord Barclay or The King?

Initially, Lord Barclay. I was sick of always having to do 'the right thing' in campaigns and be on 'the good side' so I decided to go down the evil route which was more fun.

I agree, the "bad guy" route was a lot more fun. Although I did feel rather guilty turning on Sir William, since he is my favourite lord.

My Favorites

Troop: range units

Castle: open

AI Lord: The King

Map Type: scenario

I like to use range units to back up melee units, mostly archers and swordsmen.

I don't usually enclose my castle, I like to give the AI an opening to come and die in!

When the King finally does come out and attack it's with a strong force and swordsmen are the main units, if I'm playing around and don't want a hard AI I will through Edwin into a castle.

I like scenarios because you can eliminate some of the silly things from the game, like the gong and rats, crime and disease, and you can restrict a lot of things with the editor making your own map to play.

My preference in SH2 is using the editor to make maps the way I want them

I wish that there was a random events that one can add that gives really meaningful events.

In SHc2 the random events don't relate to what you are playing... Example 'Your pitch workers have caught swamp fever..

But I don't have any pitch workers? Etc.. I would like to have dozens of events.

In fact I prefer to play economy not war - but I want serious setbacks including multiple wild animal attacks, forest fires. floods. earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, smallpox/black plague and a larger assortment of outlaws and attacks and invasions that are NOT military.

Wooden/burnable bridges and low fencing to keep the cows in.

Outlaws are fun but too predictable... one map I made had 25 bandit camps, bears and wolves. I placed the village surrounded by trees including the quarries so you had to cut down the trees before you could access them. When you finally cut a path the outlaws would come pouring in. At the same time as the first of the outlaws attacked I made life miserable by having fires break out and had bears attack too.

I realize that saying ..not military... is a bit ridiculous about a game where the whole purpose is to build armies and attack castles. But personally I'm fed up with warring and prefer to work on more 'natural' events in a "pioneering in the wilderness" type of game but with the fantastic editor program that is part of the SH2 game.

From my point of view Strong Hold 2 is the very BEST of the Stronghold series and I am disappointed with the others - not as games are concerned or playability, but as the editor is so very friendly that even a small child can have hours of fun with it and it allows one to express their creativity - a sort of paint by numbers in 3D.

I wish they used 3dmax or Blender to make the models and had a model import mode.

I was excited when I got Legends with snow etc. but the 'magic' bit with vampires, fairies, werewolves and flying witches was not what I wanted - all I want is the editor with an endless supply of 'items', rather like Morrowind or Oblivion - then I can do what I want.

It was similar at times in SHL, when random events came on that didn't sometimes relate to the game you were playing. But... it is random.

You may like to upload some files to our downloads section, they sound pretty good!

The SH2 editor is definitely the easiest to use of all of them, I have to say I'm disappointed that the newest isn't in the game, though and is harder to use. SH2 had everything structured easily.

SH2 is easy to mod, that's what I love about it so much - so you should be able to add those creatures in - in fact, I have a tutorial on the main site here which shows you how to add SHL units into SH2, it may help you with that.

Thanks for the welcome and comments.

Your tutorial looks interesting about getting the Legends stuff into SH2 - I'll let that slide for now while I pick up on your other idea of adding missions to your collection.

Have never really thought about making them available for others. I'll shall see what I have that would be worthy and may send one up when I'm sure I have something worth playing.
