Gold! We need gold to play, where do you get it from?

Recommended Posts

Making bread is probably the main way.

I made a custom map where you can only get gold by selling wine.

Any other suggestions, any unusual ways that you get gold?

I actually disagree with that - I never make bread and in multiplayer I make about 20 thousand on gold (often more if Bradley doesn't kill me instantly  ). I mainly rely on wood. At the start of the game I set up ten to fifteen saw pits and then wait for them to collect loads of wood - I built other buildings that I need such as the food ones, I build a lot of stone quarries or iron mines depending what is available on the map, several ox tether for each one and get up a massive industry.

What probably helps with all this, is that I only ever place one stockpile - never more; when that gets full, I simply sell goods from it (due to the large amount of saw pits normally wood, stone or iron) which give me a load of gold - I then sell any excess armour (normally I place several armourer's workshops on a map as the production is sooooo slow compared to other industrial buildings. Out of all the weapons, I believe it's armour which sells at the highest price. I also rely heavily on estates for gold; they not only provide honour but a steady supply of gold also.

I also build buildings such as the jousting field and travelling fair which increase popularity (along with my food) and then set my taxes to high, sometimes higher. I use a variety of ways to get gold!

I forgot about wood, it is slow 1 unit of wood for 1 unit of gold, but it does add up quick, with bread you only need 3-5 farms one mill and around 6 bakers along with apples and meat, the gold comes in quick, I only place 1 stockroom and rarely tax in SH2, add in iron and stone mines and an economy is made.

Another way of getting lots of gold is to sell leather armor and cheese, add that to an already strong economy and it's to easy, but I do enjoy using the villages, to the point where I have custom scenarios and all you have are villages, there is no room to build at your castle, it makes an interesting map, you might want to try "A Knights War" (it's posted at HG) you have no room to build and you must use the villages for every thing and you only have Knights, a very interesting map to play!

You can use the Lords Kitchen for gold to, pigs come in fast and don't take to much space, use a village to supply veggies and you have honor to!

Leather armour is very easily made, but I mainly rely on other ways for gold. I also commandeer a load of estates in the game and use them for weapon production as well - this will help and in turn increase more gold. For those estates that have a source of iron I place an armoury and basically, an entire estate of armourer's workshops - I transport them back to my estate (often giving them to Charles of Tours when he's my ally :p) and sell them for gold.

I'll go and download that I think! I love using villages instead of your own estates as well.

Villages so easily provide things in mass that you don't want your own estate to produce (i.e. with me, Candles). Two or three villages means several items on mass, and luckily, unlike SHL you can place extra carter posts to send more than one shipment of goods to your estate, meaning more gold quicker.

Keeping your ally going is important especially if he's a real player:-) I like to use iron, if I get a new title it will be "IronMan" iron can bring in gold if there is enough and using the villages to make weapons is great as well.

Villages are great I like to make a map where you can get resources on one village and have to send them to another village to make goods with them then send the goods to your castle and have carters at your castle sending resources out to the villages as well, sometimes I will use a village to send food to another village so I have more room to build. Lots of fun!

I try to make villages my main source of industry, and each village is responsible for a particular area - but doesn't always work if there aren't many estates so I end up using my own estate - but this is very useful considering the lower limit of 108 (I think) of workers in SH2 compared to 128 (or something similar) in SHL.

Speaking of loading villages, I wanted to say something about the contest map "A Chefs Quest" I noticed you had pig farms and vegetable farms in mass and over 200 units of each in the Lords kitchen and little gold but never took advantage of the iron, and you could have used the land for wheat farms and sell the bread, you only need 2 of each farm to get the honor and the kitchen should be as close to the keep as possible, it takes months for the feast to be done and you don't want your servers to walk a long time.

I will be posting "Dirvene" soon then you will have to many villages to use, I saw a map where someone put the villages up on the hill and the farmland down the hill so I tried some thing like it on this map, not as good as I would like but it works.

I never ever use wheat and bread, I don't think that's something I've ever used really in any game, just not part of my strategy. I think this map works, it certainly looks fairly good and there is enough building space to *just* get somewhere with it.

Take it now Dirvene has been posted you'd like a link to it: http://www.stronghold-nation.com/downloads/file/128-dirvene/ :)

Well, if you never tried something maybe you should, it gives you 3 goods to sell.

3 wheat farms and 1 mill 6 bakeries are enough to make a fair amount of gold, spam that and you have a large amount of gold.

Dirvene works, it has been thoroughly tested by EaglePrince and me, being a scenario the map will play differently than an online game, the action starts early and you need to travel to get the stone and there is more than enough room to build and way more than enough villages to use.

Thank you for the link!

Okay so I would play test this map again but it is actually pretty difficult and I somehow can't get past my own mission. For context there were no changes to the specified mission I am talking about. So the premise of the map is that you play as the evil Sorcerer Janibas before the Ice campaign. The map spans 5 missions. Yesterday I noticed mission 2 had an issue-that being you were supposed to kill the blue lord and win but that didn't work since I forgot to set the flag color to blue and

Greetings! Lately, @ Lord_Chris  and me @ Asophix of the Stronghold Nation staff has started testing our mettle in Stronghold Legends again. Be it a friendly spar, or a true test of weapons and skill against wanderers on the Internet, we gladly invite everyone to our hearth! We frequently play both in an organized manner on Steam, via the in-game lobby system. Generally we prefer 10min peace time matches with low starting rank, low resources and no building or troop restrictions.

Hi everyone! I'm working on a project where I want to modify the graphics of Stronghold Crusader. My goal is to create an entirely new themed game using the existing game's framework, where I’ll redesign everything from buildings and units to the main menu and in-game text. However, I’ve run into some issues with the tools I've tried, and I’m looking for suggestions on what programs I could use and if there are any specialized tools for this. Programs I’ve tried: Drago

    • A way of sustaining gold!

So any SH2 player knows that gold is one of the most important resources. It's used for troops, defences, trading and even some buildings. So what if you're low? You can't train troops, can't keep a decent working economy, can't even buy the wood you so desperately need.   From playing multiplayer yesterday with a certain Lord_Chris, him and I now know how important it is to keep a steady amount of gold for backup. Especially if you have the upper hand and you are taken out from a few knights an
