Protected forums visible to all, although not accessible

Recommended Posts

Hey, guys! I don't know if you wanted to do this thing this way, or this is something you're not aware of... When some regular forums members visit the website (counting me as well) they can see your forums Castle Courthouse and Site links, but they are not accessible, as they are protected. I assume you also wanted to hide those two?

I am providing a screenshot to show what I'm exactly talking about.

Correct. There are no topics allowed in the forum "site links" and that is why that is protected, and the castle courthouse is a place for reporting issues such as spam, double posting.etc so you can only view your own threads in that forum (hence why it's protected)

Hope that clears it up a bit. Create a test thread in there if you like & it helps to clarify a bit more, I won't warn you just this once ;)

The castle courthouse is the way it is meant to be.

As a member if you find a problem with the site or a member and want to report it to a mod, then you would report it in the court house, a mod will see it and be able to respond to the problem.

This way only mods will see the comment, no one else has access to the thread, so it's protected!

Can you make a thread there when you are logged in?

The links I'm not sure about, Lord Chris can answer that one.

Thank you for the concern!

I have created a test topic there, and I can access it (just as I should be able to).

As far as I see it, it works just the way it is supposed.

There is only one more thing still... I believe that members can see if something was posted there, just like I saw that you were posting something, and I saw names of those topic with names of members who posted latest (unread posts there).

Maybe you could do those two thing, just to test it once again - maybe that was fixes later: to post a reply on a topic in which I wasn't involved, and to create a new topic. I would tell if I can see some of those info.

I guess I shouldn't be able to see none of those thing.

You can view replies to your own topic if that's what you mean - but you can't (or shouldn't) be able to view other threads.

Could you post another screenshot of the forum?

Thanks Chris, I didn't realize you were posting at the same time.

Thanks EaglePrince, the problem we have is we need a member to post in the court house, as mods we can see it all but don't get to see how it is for members, thanks for your help!

I will take my nose out and let you complete your work Chris.

So you can see all threads before yours was created? (I have now created one in there)

And before I posted that thread you could only see your own?

I noticed on the screenshot above, that you must have clicked on the "new posts" link on the index page - if you go directly to the forum instead does it still show mine?

I've made a new post in the castle courthouse - you shouldn't be able to see it now.

@ Lord Vetka: You should, can you still see what is new?

EDIT: If someone could make one more post in there that would be great.

Great, it all works from my end too. All we're waiting for is Lord Vetka's reply as to whether or not it shows as new from his end.

Thanks for reporting!

That's brilliant. I've cleaned up the test threads to avoid it from blocking up the forum for actual reports - the good news is that id hasn't come off your post count though!

Thanks for helping :)

Recently, I've noticed that not many posts have been made on the site! It's nearing summer, and for a lot of people, exams, so this is completely understandable! I'm simply curious what everyone is up to, and how are things??   Personally, I've had a few ups and downs, as does everyone, but things are sharply on the rise! Firstly, I've fallen out with a group of friends who I've been friends with throughout school, but, this isn't bothering me anymore. Looking at it, they're not great friends, a

As the title says, could we get an option to unsubscribe from numerous/all threads via the "Show All Subscriptions" page on our profiles, please? I constantly accidentally subscribe to a post when using the site on my phone, due to me trying to be clever and not zoom in :P, it would just be convenient! Not a huge issue at all, but it would be nice to have in future :)
