Can't Play Downloaded Maps

Hello everyone,

 

I own the GoG-version of Stronghold Warlords and therefor cannot use Steam Workshop. So i was really glad to find this website here recently where i can download custom maps from other people.

However, i can't seem to be able to play these Maps once i downloaded them. I copied the extracted map file into the "Maps" folder of the game, but when i click on either "community maps" or "sandbox" ingame, none of the maps i downloaded are displayed. 

Can you tell me what I am doing wrong? Or perhaps give me a short "how to" instruction?

I just solved the problem. But maybe other people that stumble upon the same problem can use this advice.

If you want to play downloaded maps, you have to copy the map files to:

C:\users\%user%\Documents\Stronghold Warlords\Maps

Seems like there are 2 map folders in total. 1 where the downloaded maps are saved, and another one where the maps of the base game are saved.

I'm pleased to hear you've solved the problem, but yes, in essence user-generated maps should be placed in your My Documents/Stronghold Warlords/Maps folder - this is also where any maps are created using the Editor are placed.

When I have time, I'll add your question to our Stronghold Warlords troubleshooter for common questions and issues. It's still in a beta state in the moment but we will be announcing it properly soon. Thanks for letting us know you were having a problem with it.

Welcome, Kibou! Yes, that's where maps and save game files are usually saved - in the user folder. Glad you solved it.

sorry to bother, but i also have gog version and can't find map editor..

Since Stronghold 3, the Map Editor is a separate application and needs to be downloaded separately from Steam.

The following guide specifies only SHC2 and SH3, but the same method is used to download the Editor for Warlords in exactly the same way: https://www.stronghold-nation.com/article/225-stronghold-3-editor-overview?_fromArticle=1
