Hey everyone 🙂

Hope you're all ok. Things are good here, still super busy with model painting work and English tutoring.

On the Stronghold side, I've not bought Warlords yet but planning to. I've actually been playing Stronghold Kingdoms again since January - but having reached my goal of getting to Crown Prince on both the worlds I was playing without engaging in any fighting with other players I decided to stop there and leave my villages open for other players to take.

One of the things I've been enjoying during lockdown is a roleplay campaign I'm playing with a few friends via Zoom, it's been excellent fun. We're using the Moster of the Week system, and it looks like we'll be doing a D & D campaign once this one's wound up 🙂

I used to do some model painting back in the days Paul. Some of it was done as a kid with my Granda before he died.

Mostly I’ve been focussed on work lately. I work in the charity/voluntary sector so there’s always plenty to do. Plus, my boss is a total workaholic (so naturally I get on really well with her ).

I’m quite impressed with what I’ve seen of Warlords so far. After Crusader 2 I was a bit wary but I really think Firefly have turned things around this time. Warlords is an excellent game from what I’ve played of it (which isn’t a great deal so far).

I also keep meaning to go over a few more campaigns from Legends again too. It was my first Stronghold game and to this day I can never understand why it was so underrated by people.

There’s just not enough hours in the day!

Painting models seems fun to me. The only time I got hands on a model as a kid was when my father bought one. Only then he realized it needs to be assembled. It seemed cool to me too assemble it, but I was too young and father was too lazy, so he gave it to another dude who liked doing it. And then, after some time, we got the airplane all assembled and painted.

It just needs to have patience to finish it, I guess, and now when Paul mentioned it, maybe I could see around where I could buy a model, and try to do it myself.

And it's definitely not that simple either, do it would be a challenge!

Had to jump in......

Painted ALOT ''back in the day''. From my earliest Aurora ''Movie Monsters'' (look that one up, 😁 )   to my share of Fighter Plane Models. I too ''graduated'' to Military Figures (the old Airfix Sets), really relaxing and fun ''raising a Regiment'' as it were. The Fighters of course, you ''hung'' from the ceiling with clear fishing line, remember? Sounds like you have fun, Paul!

Yes, it's a nice job because it's my hobby too, so I have my personal projects as well as the commission work. The majority of what I paint for other people is Warhammer miniatures - the attached it the latest finished unit for an army I've been painting for a regular client. If you Google 'Pandaemonium Miniatures' then you should be able to see my stuff, I think it comes up at the top of searches 🙂

What's everyone got lined up for the weekend? We've ordered Caribbean takeaway for tonight, and then I think a relaxed Saturday, maybe go for a walk if the weather stays nice. I might have a Zoom chat with some friends to catch up, and then Sunday night I'm playing Monster of the Week again!

FAR too Cool, Paul....Way jealous  😂....

''Caribbean'' sounds good. Me, I work ''defending the right'' (as it were) this weekend. Then, a ''relaxing'' bout of writing Articles for The Nation. Hey, it's relaxing to me!.....

These are REALLY good Paul! Very impressive. The details on them are so meticulous. They must take so much effort, but I bet it’s worth it when you see them in front of you at the end knowing what you’ve achieved.

Has this been a natural skill you’ve always had or have you built it up over time?

I had a couple of bike rides over the weekend and takeaway on Saturday, plus currently “binge” catching up on some of the older Line of Duty series’s. Can’t wait to get started on the new one!

Thank you, that's very kind! I've always been into art and making things, so it just stems from that, but I'd say the model painting has really improved over the last couple of years just by virtue of doing it every day and occasionally experimenting with new techniques 🙂

Hi folks, hope you are all well - I had a surprise message last Friday from Chris Higginson, AKA GrumpyGills of Stronghold Knights, to say he was in my area (he's from Oz but has been travelling around) so we met up for a drink and some dinner on Saturday in the centre of Bristol - really great to see him and catch up! I mentioned SHN to him, so he might check it out 🙂
