Thank you Vetka, really helped me out :) I'm sure I'll be back with more questions. Perhaps I should ask them in DM as this may go off topic slightly :D -
Map in progress: "A Lord in a Canyon"
Mathew Steel replied to Mathew Steel's topic in Stronghold Crusader 2
Well this does sound very fancy, I'll be sure to experiment with other options when this is done. But I cant find the different options. I select markers > pathing > pathing Then all that shows is a chain with markers. I don't understand what I'm doing. Sorry if I seem really dull, I just haven't worked with these type of map editors before so its all very new to me. -

I didn't realise that was needed for mountains. I'll give it a go :) Just remembered I have no knowledge with pathing. I have never tried it, could I have some instructions? Thank you! -
Map in progress: "A Lord in a Canyon"

So I have been working on the map a lot and the everything is done except scripting and testing, which shouldn't take too long. But for some damn reason the units can apparently walk up mountains that a deer would have struggle climbing. I've checked to make sure the mountains are steep enough (even though its clear that they are just by looking at them) and I still don't know the problem. I placed the units at the start, could this be it? -
I tend to play a lot of PAYDAY 2, being a team game and you can see everyone in the match easily, it's easy to remember who is who. Most people add you if they had a good/fun match with you, so think of it as a compliment :) And like Lord_Chris said, it's easily reverted and they cant do much harm either way! :D

From what I know shields aren't as powerful as Crusader 1. A small group of crossbowmen can easily take out 20 shields in 30+ seconds. Combined with archers and traps, shields shouldn't be overpowered. I'm glad you like the suggestions. Perhaps we could have a poll to see what others think is the best option? :) -
Well @Lord Vetka has just helped me understand what you needed. While in map editor placing knights will result in them automatically being mounted. If using knights as reinforcements they should be mounted automatically. That's how it has always been for me, I recall making many maps where Lord Barclay would have knights in his invasions and they would be mounted. Although it has been a while and it might be different, if I am wrong, I'll try and figure it out for you once I have some more time :)

Map in progress: "A Lord in a Canyon"

It's nice to hear such positive feedback :) hopefully it lives up to expectations! :D -
The map is "Large" and set to the game type "Military". I won't show any screenshots yet, as there is still a lot of work to be done. There will be more as I get closer to uploading the map. The Story: You awaken. You don't feel any pain, but the beaming sun burns your eyes. You sit yourself up and look around you. Remembering nothing, you stand up. You feel unbalanced, you must have been lying down for some time. Situated in a deep canyon. Few vegetation, lots of stone. The sandstorm passes and you see a group of men in the distance. You call out for their aid. The men come running to you weapons sheathed. As they get closer, you notice the colour of their under armour, these men are friendly. You and your men talk, trying to figure out how you got here. Nobody knows. One of your archers points out the note on the floor. You pick it up, then begin to read it out loud. "Follow the canyon. Beware of the enemy. My fort is situated at the end of the canyon, you won't miss it. Good luck." Signed Sir Richard Lionheart You and your men agree to follow the orders, not because you are sure Sir Lionheart wrote this note and that it is trustworthy, but because you have no other option. You say one last sentence before commanding your men once again, "eyes peeled, blades to the front, archers to the back!" The mission: The aim of this map is simple. You and your men must fight your way through the canyons and reach your ally's territory at the other side. Although getting there won't be so easy. You will be confronted with enemy lands, where small defences have been set up in order to prevent you reaching your ally. Other enemies will be attacking you at certain points by ambushing you from different directions. Some of your men are in checkmate and attempting to move them to you will result in their death. You must use the troops you start with in order to rescue your men. Rescuing all your men isn't required but it will reward you further into the mission as you will most certainly lose troops. There is more than one route to take in order to reach your ally. Using both routes with the correct troops is how you will succeed in rescuing more of your men. A synchronized attack with archers at a vantage point and swordsmen executing threats to your archers is how you will succeed. Note: In order to succeed you will need to make strategic decisions and be able to improvise at different points in the mission. Attempting to rush through the enemy with your men will result in defeat, you are outnumbered. But as a wise man once said: "It takes more than troops to win a war"

Maybe this may appeal to you more: Option 1: -Playtest the map to find minimum resources needed, gold should be slightly higher than the minimum needed to allow more variety -Everyone has the same amount of resources to start -The player isn't able to gain any more gold, this way everyone has the same amount of gold and the same troop availability without the need of you to place the troops then send the map -Players with the fewest troops/death ratio who complete the map win (by calculating the amount of troops/death ratio, it wont matter if one player uses 100 men and another uses 200) In the unlikely case of a tie: -Starting gold is decreased and players must replay the map, same rules apply Option 2: -Playtest the map in order to discover minimum starting good to complete the mission -Again, everyone has the same starting goods -Players start with the same troops -Players may recruit new troops and also gain gold, only from taking over castles where gold piles may be collected -Same rule applies, the winner is decided on the troops/death ratio Again in the unlikely event of a tie: -Players start with less troops -Gold piles have decreased gold -Same rule in order to win applies Hopefully one of these options are more suited to you :) -

This to me is what would make the best sense. Option 1: -People playtest the map to see the minimum amount of troops needed to complete, making it a difficult game and hence more exciting -The minimum amount of troops are placed, all players will use the same troops and starting goods to siege -Slightly different from Nigel's idea. You must play the map 3 times. If you complete the mission say in 20 minutes for example, 3 points, 25 minutes is 2 points, then 30+ is 1 point. -Whoever has the highest score at the end wins. If there is a tie: -Whoever completed the mission in the fastest time would then take the lead and be victorious Option 2: -People playtest the map to see the minimum amount of troops needed to complete, making it a difficult game and hence more exciting -The minimum amount of troops are placed, all players will use the same troops and starting goods to siege -Keeping with Nigel's idea. 3 tries maximum (you may play once if you wish). If you play the map once, the time you completed it, is your final time. Play anymore than once then it goes off the average time. For example: Try 1= 20 minutes Try 2= 22 minutes Try 3= 21 minutes 20+22+21?3=21 minutes -Whoever has the fastest time overall will win So the penalty of replaying the map comes with a slightly higher time than what you'd think. Let me know what you think :) -

Sounds like a great idea, I like it. I'm slightly confused, you said whoever completes the siege first wins. If you need to place the troops for that player, wouldn't whoever the map was given to first, have a head start? Perhaps it should be the fastest time to kill the enemy lord? Or maybe I am just confused :) -
A game from Steam as a gift? Or something else?
Mathew Steel replied to EaglePrince's topic in The Open Castle Inn
This would be a good idea but Steam would drastically lose money. Think how many games you have bought and then not played them again. I've done that to a lot of games. Also it's not entirely up to Steam but also the game developers :) -
After reinstalling Adobe Flash Player the problem has returned. Hmm, I don't know what I can do about this. Looks like I'll have to wait for a fix :/ Well I am going to sound really stupid for all the trouble this has caused everyone. It seems youtube's new automatically ticked option to "Autoplay" videos doesn't work like it should. I had no idea it existed until 10 minutes ago and after turning it off the problem has stopped. So again I am so sorry for all this!

Mathew Steel replied to EaglePrince's topic in The Open Castle Inn
Games which, like Micha stated, are free for a certain amount of days and are "exclusive" or "popular" will show up in your game library, available for download. This can be easily hidden by setting your library preference to "Installed", although I tend to leave it on "All Games" in case a game which sounds good pops up :) -
That's a good point about FlashPlayer, I'll give that a go now! Seems to have solved the problem, thank you all! :)
-
Thank you for searching but I do not use AdBlock, also still no fix.
-
Well at least you've put my mind to rest. Can you think of a cause or fix to my problem? It's strange how nobody else is experiencing this. Also there is no pattern. It happens to all videos, without playlist, and happens at random times! Creepy enough, since posting this topic, the matter has been noticeably worse :/
-
That's exactly what I was thinking but the thought had crossed my mind loads. I don't have it enabled but couldn't some website have allowed someone into my PC?
-
I'm asking for some technical help here. I appreciate any feedback and would be grateful if you helped me get to the bottom of this. Recently while watching youtube, videos will randomly switch. Causing me to click back and watch it again (occasionally it will choose another video again). The videos are not in playlist and I have looked around to see if anyone was experiencing the same issue. Unfortunately I found no help. I'm slightly worried that my PC is being remotely accessed. Although nothing serious has happened, and I have no important information on my PC this is still worrying. Malwarebytes and Avast found no worms, Trojans etc not even potential malware. Has anyone else experienced this? And do you think somebody is using my PC remotely?
