Stronghold 2 Manager is here! Possible to play MP game with bots
EaglePrince replied to EaglePrince's topic in Stronghold 2
Is it possible for Google Bot to download it even though it is only on the server and not visible otherwise? Nevertheless even if we taught it wouldn't find it there we wouldn't be 100% sure, so yes, you are correct, the reputation is more important. The only problem with the link above is that if the uploader of the file deletes it, it won't be there anymore. That can happen even on accident - if he has dropbox installed and if he deletes the file on his machine, the file would be removed from the server as well... For that reason I will make another dropbox account, and login into an old one of mine and reupload the file, and give the link above. Maybe we could make the tread sticky after that? I didn't know about the bugs in 1.3.1. Back then when I was a kid I was playing 1.0 and then I switched to 1.4.1 directly. I didn't have internet so I was stuck with that for a while until I found the patch and I knew only about bugs from 1.0. I thank you for all your help, having this tread here, sticky or not, is a great thing for anyone who would like to try the mod, although it may become frustrating if the bugs in 1.3.1 version are annoying. -

I do understand your reasons, but still, I would like to ask you to reconsider this decision. :) I mean, yes, it is being reported as a virus and it works only with 1.3.1 version, but on the other hand this place is kind of a sanctuary for us Stronghold fans. For that reason I think it would be great if it was in the download section or at least somewhere on the server and not visible to visitors. I do have it on both my PC's now, I plan to burn it on a disc too just to make sure it won't be lost, but for such a thing I don't think it is good enough. :) I think it would be better if it was kept somewhere on this website, and that way it would be right on the place where anyone could look for it. Do you agree about that maybe? I don't want to push you about that matter, I realize what is your concern, and I know that it is not an easy decision. Regarding the fact that it works only with 1.3.1 I could tell that there are players who prefer to have 1.3.1 installed, and some would also be willing to install 1.3.1 version just to be able to play multiplayer game. I just gave my reasons, but I respect your decision and I will not be pushing about that. I see, I'm happy to have that here. :) I will print that for the next time we play multiplayer. :) When it comes to articles, I have little time these days. Although I have passed the two of my exams this summer now I prepare myself for another one - to try to pass it during this school year, and before I get more obligations (which regard teaching) at the university. But when I find a next interesting thing I could make I would make an article about, I would do that. :) -
Glad to hear to solved the issue. :)

Which OS do you have on your mobile device?
EaglePrince replied to EaglePrince's topic in The Open Castle Inn
Regarding the poll, maybe it is my bad. I just tick the checkbox "add poll" or something like that, and I see nothing else I could do regarding the poll, I just hit submit. I expected that it asks me about the poll afterwards? Well, maybe we don't need the poll so badly, you may have a look when you have enough time, but for this tread specifically - maybe we don't need it... Speaking about those Windows updates, now I checked, I have both of those two installed on my machine two. Interesting, I missed that part of the story. On the other hand, maybe we only need to wait and see what will be experiences by other people... Maybe those are only for anti-piracy purposes. On the other hand, I feel need to tell that same may apply to the other two operative systems... I mean, nowadays lots of stuff are being stored on the cloud and each of those three systems has its own way of synchronizing images, contacts, messages, etc... through a cloud. For this reason I think that we can't really know if we are being spied by Microsoft, Google, Apple, or some other company... I am sure that there are things that are not even public. I could be telling that as a paranoid, but they could have been spying on us since Windows 98, and of course if they wanted to continue with that they wouldn't give us a reason to suspect. Google could be spying on us though Google Chrome, and same for Apple. Also, there is another thing - even if they do spy on us, I don't think they could get something interesting from me specifically. :) The only result that could matter to them would be when they get information from enough large group of people from a country and then they could get an idea about their political views and stuff like that... In the end, I need to say that I am speaking all that as a person who doesn't know a lot about those things. Now me back to the subject as well (although that concern about privacy is related to the subject too)... I am glad to hear an opinion of an iPhone user. I have realized even before that you care about privacy, and for that reason I am not surprised that you prefer this one. Although Apple's products are more expensive, for the same reason people expect from them to provide better privacy... I have used Android before a little, although that wasn't my phone - it's my moms. It works well, but the only thing about those phones is that too many people complain about their android phones having lag over time and stuff like that... Still, my mom's HTC still works well, although one can feel that it needs more RAM and more CPU power. A Windows Phone and an iPhone with same specifications work way better with same specifications as an android phone. This is the reason I chose Windows Phone, and right now I have no regrets about that. Still, that thing with prize, optimization, etc... maybe that is something that concerns only us who live in a country where we have lower salaries... There are some things they could have done better in Windows Phone in my opinion... For example on an older android when a message is delivered user can see that later by looking into the conversation and the message would be ticked. In my case I have a separate conversation with my operator in which I have all my reports... I hope they will change it in Windows 10, but it is no big deal. By the way is it true that iOS doesn't have delivery reports? Someone wrote that in a comment of an article I read, although I believe that he may be using an older iPhone with older software or he simply didn't know how to enable those? Oh, and about crashes of the phone itself, it hasn't happened to me since I have this phone, and it's been since two months ago. -

It wasn't, now i'll write it again. :D No problem. :D -
Hey, guys. I this tread I wanted to see what is operative system that you have on your mobile device? I know how it is in my country, there are very little iPhones here, while as I have realized, there are way more of those in US for example... So what is the case with you fellow Crusaders? Do you prefer reliability of iOS, having lots of applications which is specific for Android phones, or you prefer Windows Phone which will hopefully get even better with Windows 10 for mobile gets released? Although Chris probably knows what each of us use :D I would refrain from telling my opinion yet, I will wait to see what you say and what you think, and then I would jump in. :) I don't want to start a tread by stating how one OS is better than some other. :) Also, as I am unable to add a poll here I would ask Chris to do that for me here, so visitors could pick the OS they use. Right now I have numbered three of them, but we can also discuss any other OS as well such as Symbian or some else. Regarding the poll, I think those could be under "other"...

I see this is going to be one great tread. :) I may download the program, from the screenshot if looks like a great stuff for learning that matter. :)

Stronghold 2 Manager is here! Possible to play MP game with bots
EaglePrince replied to EaglePrince's topic in Stronghold 2
There is a chance that it is his personal email, and in that case he could receive it and read it. I hope that is the case. I hope this will be possible to be done. I was thinking about contacting even firefly regarding this, we don't care if Ai lords would attack one player only or stuff like that, it would be interesting to play. And yes, I guess it would be better if the mod required replacing file and not a tool but still, maybe that wouldn't be possible either. Also, now I have another thing I want to do and that would be a multiplayer scenario in which the two player would have to deal with bandits and stuff like that. Still, that wouldn't be a scenario but a kingmaker map with a recommendation how to play it. :) We'll see about that yet... I also want to make an article here for stronghold 2... We don't have a list of buildings available in each rank, right? That could be handy for mp games, so I wanted to type that stuff. I do have it on paper now... Also, sorry for going off topic. :) -
Stronghold 2 Manager is here! Possible to play MP game with bots
EaglePrince replied to EaglePrince's topic in Stronghold 2
I have tried Stronghold 2 manager today hoping that it may work with 1.4.1 version although Rdkill did mention in the read me file that it works with 1.3.1. Who knows maybe it is possible, but I didn't make it. Regarding Stronghold 2 Manager - now after trying it I wouldn't say it is a mod, it is more like a tool. You start the game, go to kingmaker, minimize the game, jump into the manager which you opened before the game and turn Ai lords on. Then you go to multiplayer, set your game, and have fun. It is all possible with GR as well though. So, the exe file doesn't extract anything, it does something, although I don't know what, and I don't know how to find that out. Still this is great for anyone wanting to play MP against Ai lords, only those will have to have 1.3.1 version installed. Maybe we manage to figure out how to do the same thing with 1.4.1 version, who knows... -

Sure, I will gladly submit it. I may not write the full description right now, but I would do that later when the file is approved. :) Also, my other PC is back here, so I will attempt to play with myself and bots in multiplayer. -

I agree with both of you regarding the permission. However I fear that we may be unable to contact him, as he hasn't been at SHH for a while, and it seems he hasn't been speaking to anyone from the community in a while... On the other hand he did submit the mod to SHH on his own before, only it was removed, so I think that he wouldn't be against sharing the mod with others. I think that the only thing standing in our way would be the exe file being reported as a troyan. If you would be willing to approve the file, I would submit it, and I would say that this is the mod made by Rdkill, and I would also give the link to the original tread at Stronghold Heaven where he introduced others to this mod. -
I have good news! :) One of the original fans of the mod sent the installation file. :) This is where you can download it from, but be aware, it is likely that your antivirus will detect it as a troyan. I believe that this is nothing harmful, and I will try it later. Right now I don't have the other PC of mine here, but I will have it tomorrow, so I will try it then. Another issue is that they said it works with 1.3.1 version, so I am unsure whether this is going to with 1.4.1 version, but we shall see that. Even if it doesn't we are so much steps ahead than we used to be, and yes - many of us are able to reinstall the game and install the 1.3.1 version to have fun in multiplayer. Also, another thing I would love if we could manage to solve is to get rid of the exe file if possible but that would exceed my knowledge. If there is anyone who knows how to extract the exe file maybe it would be possible to make a mod which wouldn't be feared to infect a PC, and we would be able to learn some more stuff about the mod. Regards! Mod edit: removed link to software

Just came to say few words... Yesterday game was exciting to me. I would like to hear other opinions as well, but I will tell a short story from my perspective. We were playing with no attacking until we were all dukes, and when we all became dukes it seemed to me that surprisingly I was the strongest one although we were all realm close to each other. Mathew didn't get any village while Chris got only two of them while I had four of them, and there more empty villages between us. I liked it on this map that we were not close to each other, each of us had enough space and we had enough space between each other. I think I made my map well, as this was its first multiplayer testing. First I attacked Chris, he lost one of his villages then, but I didn't manage to kill him. I was too slow and I didn't notice his weak point, but even if I had noticed them, I would hesitate to kill him. I felt it was too early and he just didn't manage to build everything like he does usually. Unfortunately for me, when I did attack the castle he trained more crossbowmen and knights, and there was no way I could kill him. I don't want to say I spared his life, it is likely that I would manage to kill him even without hesitating, but this taught me not to waste my chances. While I was in the attack Mathew was raiding Chris as well, but he was trying to raid me with few peasants too. He also had a group of knight which came into my lands but I stopped them. Later I attacked Mathew, I failed again, so after that defeat Chris attacked me. He was stronger then. Also I was foolish to send the lord outside along with some troops he he got killed. :D I was disappointed at the moment, but it was fun, and although I needed to be more careful, I am satisfied how I played the game. I only needed to get better production, but I haven't been playing in a while. Later Chris killed Mathew too. I'm looking forward to play another game like this some to later. :)

I'm planning to play, but I said that just in case I don't make it to finish something. :)
-
Oh, I worked and I switched the days (in my mind) yesterday... I'm sorry, guys. Nevertheless I may come this evening, at least to watch how you are doing. :)
-
I like what I just read here. :) See you tomorrow then. Oh, and by the way I passed my exam. :) These is another one I need to prepare for soon, but I will give my best to do a lot of work during the day before we would play.
-
Later would suit me better, I shall need to prepare for the exam. :) In fact I am not scheduled to pass the exam but to try to pass it, and I hope I'll make it. :D
-
On august 12 I have an exam scheduled. I may not be able to join, but maybe I could one day or few days later. It's been long time now though, I think it would be better to start a new game though.
-
Davids idea does seem good! Maybe something like that can be implemented. For example, we could simple add a rule that the defender can try to kill the opponents lord. This way there could be more battles on the field, or before the attackers camp... There are a lot of things we could do.

Technology Today and Yesterday(s)
EaglePrince replied to Mathew Steel's topic in The Open Castle Inn
Thanks for helping me with this issue. :) In fact this is just the kind of help I needed - to see what are experiences of others with those portable chargers. And yes, what he sold me would be something like universal (portable) charger. It's not the same brand is my phone is, but considering specifications it should be good. Later yesterday I tried to charge the phone again from the portable charger it now I didn't have that heating issue. Now I wasn't using the phone much: I wasn't browsing internet over wifi, nor using Viber or any other application which would require some more of phones resources. Also when I tried it yesterday I tried it without the protection mask (the silicon one) so if it was heating a little - it was cooling more easily. Special thanks and regards to you and ladies of your kingdom from a small country that fought war against duchy of Graph Theory and empire of Universal Algebra. :) The was is going well so far. :) -

EaglePrince replied to Mathew Steel's topic in The Open Castle Inn
Could someone say something about power banks, or as they are also knows as - portable chargers? I have bought one for my new phone but I got feeling that it overheats the phone while charging. Is it normal for them to warm up the phone while charging it? It is not the case with my original "normal" charger. Also, are those bad for the battery? With previous phone I used to have two batteries to switch them if needed one of them used to be 100% charged in case I need it, and I carried both of them with me. :) Also. If my origins charger has 550mA output, wouldn't it be bad for the battery to charge it by portable charger with 1A output? The thing is that the guy in the store was politely explaining me that I have no reason to worry and that heating while charging the phone with a power bank with more amperage is no big deal, but I am unsure whether he was telling me this only so I would be satisfied and so I wouldn't want to return it to him asking for money back or something else. In my opinion I would have right for that as I said "I need a power bank for Lumia 532 DS", and he said "this one is good for all smartphones", thus possibly misinforming me. Thanks in advance, guys, and I hope it is a good thing to ask this in this tread. :) ADDITION: I'm charging it again now from the power bank, it seems to be fine now. Maybe I had this issue yesterday before I was charging it AND I may had several applications running such as Viber (which I dislike pretty much :| ), Internet Explorer, etc... while having wifi on too. But the question still stands: how good or bad is it for battery life if it has higher amperage than the original charger? :) -
Also, we may want to consider the Templars Nightmare mod? I am sure our friend who made the,mod would love involving the mod in something like this. I didn't say the name worrying to write his nick wrong. :D He did bring another attributes to troops as well, right?
-
I am unsure how interesting could that be cause I still don't know much about troops in Crusader 2, but if they don't have any rock/scissor/paper system I fear it wouldn't be that good. I've got feeling that they made it just like: men-at-arms < macemen < pikemen < swordsmen < knights ... But I still know very little about those, and true - they do have their special abilities. Maybe it could be interesting because of that. :) Also, another thing we could do is playing with small castles with setting up a limit to number of buildings and troops as well - hoping that this would motivate players to build troops other than knights. :)
-
Indeed, and even the old players may easily come to conclusion that they have removed the old forum.
-
It looks nice, although I would prefer if it was easier to access the old forum from the website. :) I didn't manage to find the link on my own - I saw that it's still there after getting some notification from the forum.
