  1. Thanks, Nigel, I'm glad you like my map. :) And yes, I hope we would play some of them online too! Speaking about my map, it may be less interesting one for multiplayer because of the balance, but if you wouldn't mind, I would be happy if we played my map as well. I mean, it's just the fact that those lord in north-west have more resources and lords in the east. That's because I had in mind a singleplayer map in which you would choose between positions in south-east, which would be easier, and in north-east, which would be harder. And of course, don't take wrong when I say this - one could understand that I want to say "please, let's play another map in multiplayer", but it's definitely not the case, and I would be happy if we played it. Only I understand that you may have more fun in multiplayer with Tokamaps map. :) Oh, and I have another idea for a multiplayer map. In fact, now I have two ideas, but maybe those two ideas could be implemented into one map. :) EDIT: And regarding your map, I like the design, only you didn't have enough time to make some more details. If you want I would encourage you do some more work on the map, so it would be even better. :) I myself did the same with mine now, which you could have noticed in Stronghold 2 section. I made a small correction - one village was set to produce food only, while it had iron. Now it will produce iron. And another thing - I managed to add a gate to outlaws castle near the coast, and outlaws are able to leave or enter the castle through that gate. Players are unable to enter the castle unless they destroy the wall or something like that. :)
  2. Yes, I do have the stairs. :) And I made it. :D It's a little bit differently than you described right not, but it's the same thing. I did what I mentioned with knights, I lured those outlaws on top of the gatehouse, then I saved the game, and then I went back into the editor to remove those knights. Besides this I reduced two castle estates so I wouldn't have any AI buildings to remove in the editor - the same thing with tiny estates I saw in the article Chris showed me. After removing those knights I also got those two estates to original size, and then I saved the map again. I also tried to remove those few outlaws that showed up at each outlaw camp on the map, but after that the game would crash each time I try to save the map later. So I left it as it is, now outlaws seem to have tiny advantage over players, as they had started to show up some 10 seconds before the game started, or maybe more. I believe this won't be a problem. EDIT: This way, when I make two tiny estates, the lord and the keep don't show up at all. The game just starts, it says to me to place the stockpile, but I just unpaused the game, and moved on playing around with those knights luring outlaws on the gate.
  3. Now I tried what you described Tokamaps, but it didn't work for me. I tried it on a blank map, and I tried it on my map as well. I can drag the outlaw, but I am unable to bring him on top of the gate (same with walls and towers). I even tried to leave ladders so outlaw could climb the gate, but no success. I cannot command the ladderman to bring ladders to the wall. On the other hand, now I did see how I can make ruins on the map. :) Hmm, on the other hand, maybe there is another way - to provoke the outlaw to come on the gate. I could try that with placing a knight there, and I hope one of the outlaw would come to attack him (which would be easier done if they weren't able to throw spears)... By now outlaws were able to go on the gate, but they "didn't know" that this way they will be able to leave the castle and attack me. They need some motivation to go there. :)
  4. I will try this. I have already made a tiny change to my map. I have noticed that I have set a village which as iron to produce only food. That's not an issue for human players, but it was supposed to be fixed because of AI lords. I will see if I can do this with the gate as well. So, as I have changed the map, and I don't plan to change the name of the map, I hope that those who already have the older version on their PC's will download the new one and update the version. Thanks for helping with this. The articles Chris showed right now is going to be really helpful. :) I only hope I will be able to move that outlaw on top of the gate. :) I shall see.
  5. I agree, it is a special feeling when you play such a game for the first time, but in my case - it was my second Stronghold, and when I played those missions, I also had more fun then with Crusader missions. Of course, at this point I am talking about Crusader campaigns, while I had way more fun in Crusader Trail. I just like those missions where I need to rebuild a castle, or to build it out of nothing. In other words - invasions and skirmish. :) You did fine job with those first missions, sir.
  6. Thanks for suggestion, it's never too late.:) I will try what you suggested. I'm only not sure hope to do the trick you mentioned, but I assume that I can find information about that here at the forum or within the articles.
  7. Congratulations Tokamaps for this victory! Like you can conclude from my first feedback for your map, I also agree that your map is better then mine - I like the design of the map in general and I like how you made the landscape so beautiful. It is a deserved victory. For myself, I am happy that I made this map of mine. I enjoyed making it, and I am glad that I remade the map I long lost, and that in a way that I no longer feel sorry for losing it. For that I am thankful to Chris and others who made this contest happen which motivated me to start working on it. Also, another good part of it all is that this contest was right after I passed my exam, so I was able to participate. :) EDIT: Do I submit the map to downloads central? :) I mean, it won't be done automatically, or something like that? I wouldn't expect that, but I ask just in case.
  8. Interesting, you are correct. Now I tried following the same link on the browser and it worked fine. It should be something about the mail client on my phone then or it could be about the browser, I'll try out some stuff with that. smile Maybe copy/paste the address would work. And now I tried it. Copy/paste works fine, but taping the link doesn't. I'll keep that in mind for the following email notifications.
  9. Me too, thanks for the nice feedback. Regarding square estate borders, I agree, it would look more natural, only I decided to keep them square for the same reasons you mentioned. Somehow I became more tolerant to square borders, I got feeling that those doesn't have to matter much, though I may not be right f course. Now when you mentioned it - maybe I could have made those borders more natural at least in the north-west where estates are all close to each other. I'm glad that you like how I made the landscape and that you like that idea with outlaws. I was thinking about outlaws before while thinking about a good multiplayer map. Those outlaws can give us natural way to bring us a natural no rush period - no one would attack until he is able to defeat the outlaws, and that wouldn't be before players have enough archers or stronger melee troops.
  10. Hi. This is the message I get in the email notification. When I tap on the link it says "the requested URL was not found on the server. I can show a screenshot of it could be helpful. EDIT: Just so you wouldn't get me wrong. I just wanted to point it out in case you haven't noticed that, I don't mean to be the one who complains about everything. :D
  11. Well, you make good maps in general, and I like when I can play a game on a map and enjoy. That is indeed for what Stronghold 2 is the best of all Stronghold games, and especially with a right map. Besides this map I remember that you have submitted some other maps of yours as well, and I planned to play them, but then obligations... And I still want to play them, and I will - by the time. I agree, it would be fun to play it in multiplayer. I find the position in south-west quite interesting, so I could be there. I don't care too much about balance - you have some advantages, I have some other advantages, and that's what makes it more interesting. By the way, in those games you told about - you start as free map, right? I had feeling that with these settings Bull could take down William by not letting to grow stronger... I guess I was wrong, though I have noticed that some of those limitations regarding rank don't apply to computer players like on human - they are able to build stone walls from the very beginning for example.
  12. I like your map, you made those details quite well. :) I like how you made the entire terrain - how you mixed up those different terrain types making it look really beautiful. You did make elevation I was speaking about I could implement in some of my future maps - the west bank of the river on your map is a perfect example of what I had in mind. It's just one level above the river, and with those different textures and tiny details you made it so it doesn't look just flat. I also like the position on the hill above the sea, it's a perfect position for many human players while AI lord can also handle that position quite well - there is enough space for a small AI lords castle. I won't even mention that it looks epic - any castle on that hill will look amazing. And finally - the north-west position, it's also greatly done. I especially like how you made those marches there. By the time I see that I never knew the Stronghold 2 editor as much as I could have if I had. Whenever I would try to make a map I would settle with a "simple flat map", not knowing how much it offers. I know I was talking about this before, but I feel so sorry for not trying those things with the editor back when I was younger and when I had more time to play with it. Maybe we could say it is partially Firefly's fault as none of their original maps has as good landscapes as this one posted by Tokamaps, and they didn't show to people how Stronghold 2 Map Editor is a great tool. Still, this only applies to those who had the game but didn't have internet - whoever had internet he was able to download those beautiful maps made by the best map makers, and to see examples of what can one do with this editor. :) I don't know about you guys, but I'm looking forward to next Stronghold 2 challenge. :) Making those maps is quite enjoyable and relaxing.
  13. That's great to hear, thanks! :) Also no need to hurry or something like that, I was just curious about that matter, and I wanted to suggest that it may be better if some new theme would be also dark like this one. I myself, just like every other member, am grateful for what you do here.
  14. Hey, me again about this... :D I just meant to ask if it is possible to add another theme such as pantherone, only darker? I mean, if that can be done easily, of course? The only downside of pantherone is that its background is white and letters are black contrary to this one, while people here - when we write we care about this default darker theme? Then Crusader's History tread would be more easily read from mobile. :)
  15. Oh, and I wanted to say one more thing. For example, I know I could have used different elevation levels, that can make things more interesting! For example, roads can be really awesome like that, and rivers can also look pretty cool. I will try that in some of my later maps. If there is anything else that you can notice I missed, please let me know, I may not be aware of that. I will also go through the articles again to see all the tricks you were writing about, I could find some of those useful and make maps even better. :)
  16. Here is my map as well. I tried to do it by implementing those ideas I saw at Vetkas maps, but I didn't know how much time I am going to have, so I worked less with elevation. Nevertheless, the map is not completely flat, I hope it looks natural, and that it will be exciting to play. I saw Nigels map, his idea was to make a balanced 1v1 map. I made a map which would be better to be played against computer, but it would be interesting to play with human players as well, only it isn't balanced. My idea was to remake an old map I created when I was younger - it was a map that I lost: it had two sides of a river while in the middle on river island there were outlaws. A downside of this map was that, if I put an AI lord such as King or Hammer, they wouldn't be able to develop their castles due to outlaws attacks. They just don't train troops that they can, they wait until they can train their best troops, and they fail against those early attacks. This time I made positions differently, so if one wants to play against Hammer he could put give him Olaf as an ally, and Olaf can defeat outlaws easily. So, this map is for me to feel less sorry for losing my old map - this one is similar in its design, while it has some stuff fixed, and in this one I implemented what I learned here at Stronghold Nation. Oh, and damn, I just took a look at some stuff here, and I saw how I could make my map somewhat better... :D So... I'm not submitting my map yet, but until I do that - you're going to be able to see the minimap. :) It seems that I'm going to spend some time reading those articles by tokamaps over again, just as I am in the mood to play with the editor, but not for this map - for this one I'm going to do a little adjusting. :) EDIT: I have attached my map. :) SECOND EDIT: Now after making few changes I am submitting this new version of the map. One villages is now set to produce iron instead of three types of food, and outlaw castle got a gatehouse. THIRD EDIT: There was an unexpected problem with the second version, in that version map has only two castle estates, so I'm bringing the fixed version. "Dolina Odmetnika new version" is bad. Download "Dolina Odmetnika fixed version". Hopefully Chris could remove "Dolina Odmetnika new version". Dolina Odmetnika.zip Dolina Odmetnika new version.zip Dolina Odmetnika fixed version.zip
  17. Actually, it could be better for me (this time) to play after this weekend. Now after I passed that one exam I have another one, but this time I'm not that near trying to pass it. Now I need to do a quick reading of the subject during this weekend, but I do feel more relaxed at the moment. :)
  18. It was about the sound, the sound was set to 0. :)
  19. 21:30 would be fine by me. Still, we shall see if that fits others. The best would be if we could start about 20:00.
  20. Thanks, that could be the issue. Maybe music is louder or it could be that sound effects are on minimum.
  21. It's the map I've almost completed. :(
  22. Do I smell mercy..? :D Or maybe not. :D
  23. I tried inserting some sounds into my map, but by now I haven't heard anything, I only hear the game music. Is there something wrong? I clicked that sound icon in the left part of the screen near the minimap in the editor, and I was inserting different sounds into the map. Maybe it will work, it's pretty late by now, but I just meant to ask because I am going to be busy tomorrow, and it may be too late to ask tomorrow evening about this, as we need to do this until Sunday. :)
