  1. Sure, I could do it for Stronghold Crusader once. :) I'm way better in that game, though we play it differently when we have no rush period, and when we play skirmish games. Firstly I made this video, because I couldn't find one for Stronghold 2 like this myself. There are some videos, but they are mostly for when a player starts with 5,000 gold. Also, what could be benefiting from my videos is that I tend to play for fun, and to build complete castles. I focus on both - economy and defenses, and I don't like using any exploits. There are certainly many "pro tutorials" for Stronghold Crusader, but there is no fun in playing like that. That's more about players wanting to be the best, which isn't good in my opinion. What would you like to see first? Singleplayer or multiplayer?
  2. I have bought Stronghold Collection recently for my mom (and for myself :P ), as it's on sale, and I already have SH1, SHC1, SH3, and SHC2 on my account. Then I shared those games from her account with myself, so we could both play it. Now I tried it with Stronghold Legends, and no, it doesn't work the same way as Stronghold 1 and Crusader 1. If I double-click the exe file while Steam isn't working it just shows me some error code. In order to play the game if the Steam isn't running I need to double-click an internet shortcut which was made by Steam, and then Steam starts automatically. Now I will try it with Stronghold 2 as well, but I am almost sure that it will be the same, as those two are similar games. So, yes, I finally have Stronghold Legends again. :D
  3. Yes, I did have issues with that... The thing is that while I was recording my phone rang - it was my mom, she wanted me to bring in laundry, as it was about to rain. :D I paused the game when it rang, and I continued with the video, but later when I wanted to crop this peace out, I actually needed to convert the video. I don't know any other way, I just believe that's how it works - I cannot simply crop, but cropping requires converting - even if it is to the very same video format. I was doing it with Format Factory. The first version was even more blurry. I should also say that after converting it's not blurry on my PC, but for some reason YouTube made it like this. In the first video which I removed 360p was the best quality offered to the viewer. Haha, if I am not mistaken, that's the sound of my PC in one moment. :D Thanks for your compliments, guys! :) Oh, and by the way, I'm afraid that there doesn't exist a mac version of Stronghold 2. :( There may be ways to make it running on a mac, but I don't know much about that. In fact, I know nothing about mac - like John Snow. :)
  4. I removed the video, and uploaded another version, so this one has better quality. I have also updated the link above.
  5. Hi. This is a video I recently made. Today I was editing it, because I was called on my phone at some moment. I wanted to cut that part. I hope this will help those who find it easier to play starting with 5000 gold or more. It's a short 25 minutes video. There's nothing exciting to see in the video, but I hope it's going to be helpful. The video turned out to be low quality, so I will try to convert it again, and re-upload it. Hopefully I would turn out to be better after uploading.
  6. Today I learned that I won't be able to play tomorrow either. I have some work to do until the end of the following week, and we are also visiting my grandmother.
  7. I agree, it's indeed interesting. I should suggest that you can use some of user-made maps. Check out this section from SHN Downloads Central. You have my "permission" to use my maps, and what is more - I would be pleased if you did. And yes, I agree, that could require a lot of work. Right now I'm pretty busy, but I would be willing to help as much as I can - through play-testing and suggestions.
  8. Well, maybe you could also try to see what happens if you just change that original map with another one. Maybe you could do something that way, though even like that you would still have a fight against Sultan Abdul with the same settings as in the original mission. Maybe it won't work, I don't know, but I should say that it may mess up the original Crusader Trail. Looking forward to see what you're about to do. :)
  9. You're welcome. :) Also, I would like to add that, I believe one could make a scenario in which the player would play a skirmish game which you set previously. Just make a map (or use an already existing map), start a game, and save the game. Then change the extension from .sav to .map, and this should work as a custom scenario now. I'm not entirely sure, but I believe I didn't miss anything. That could be one possible workaround.
  10. Hi, Savage101. Welcome to Stronghold Nation. I have send a personal message to Teutonen Ritter (aka Lord Stronghold) regarding this question. If he finds some time, he will try to answer your question. You can subscribe to this tread, so you could receive an email notification when he answers by clicking Subscribe to this topic link at the bottom of the tread.
  11. I agree, but still - even if the two lords negotiate over one territory (or about single shipment, or continuous shipments of goods), why wouldn't another lord be able to take it for himself? :P Maybe we're overthinking right now. It can be put simply - players can negotiate about whatever they like, they can trade estates, goods or whatever, but as long as it is not teaming up against another lord (which we agreed before that it would not be honorable). So, for that latest reason this non-attacking agreements could be against this rule which regards teaming up against someone.
  12. Unfortunately I won't be able to play tomorrow, but if you decided to play on Sunday I may be able to join. :)
  13. I agree, that would be interesting, but still, that may not be as appealing in the game as it seams - at least because carters are able to carry only 50 of each good, and that is too little to trade with something. That is why I think that trading with estates themselves would be far more interesting, though we could say "ok, I'll leave you this village with 100 swords and 100 armors in exchange for [something, like not attacking me for a while (this this may be something others wouldn't like :P )]". It's just that a village itself is far more valuable then an amount of resources, because if you build a large food production there - they would be producing thousands of food units. :) Only not all villages are the same - some have iron, some villages don't, and some are small, while some can be vast, and, which is also very important - some are closer to our castles while others are further. :) Selling territories is something that we used to see in history, and it has also been a resource by which you can buy yourself peace. :)
  14. Chris is correct, it is impossible for you to order your carter to transport goods to an enemy estate. Still, like I said, we can trade in the game with estates, which is nice actually. :)
  15. I will try that (sending goods to an enemy castle), and let you know about the result. That would be really interesting, this way you would not only be able to send iron, but weapons such as swords and armors as well. Though what I had in mind was that I had a lot of honor - I mostly had more than 1,000, so I was able to buy a village next to him, and leave it undefended for him to take it. We can say that this is another way to trade with goods as well, as there villages which produced iron and stone, so he would alsmost would get this way not only a village, but a lot of iron and stone as well. :) Still, what you described could be an interesting deal as well. :)
  16. Oh, there has been no change with that, my friend. :D It's just that I started pretty well in this game, and that I wasn't recruiting almost any army early - because we weren't fighting in early phases of the game, that would have been a waste of gold. So, before we started to fight I was expecting Chris to have knights in large numbers, and as I had a lot of gold and honor I decided to train knights instead. I mean, I love swordsmen - I like them more than knights, but as I was about to have army at full capacity, and I was expecting from Chris the same, so I expected that my swordsmen army would have been crippled by his knights. :) Also, I had smaller production of swords and armors - I didn't produce those in my villages. Too bad to hear that Chris. Hopefully it will be better next time. And regarding that estate that was far from you - if you wanted you could have traded it for another one even before we started to fight. I would buy you a closer village, while Nigel would take that one. ;)
  17. Just to drop this one here... That week the challenge was to create "a non-functional, scenery based map with rivers, waterfalls, hills and cliffs", so seas were not mentioned. It's not an issue, sea can be easily added, but I wanted to note this one. :)
  18. In the previous message here I didn't separate my latest paragraph from the rest of it, so it stayed unnoticed. To cut the long story - what do you prefer to get more gold: to have -16 taxes and: -to have +16 popularity effect with food and church, or -to have +16 popularity effect with inn and food, or -to have +16 popularity effect with inn and church? I mostly pick food + church combination, as this way I gain some honor as well, while I also use food + inn when I don't have enough space in my estate.
  19. There is no warning before quitting a game. If one, while playing, opens the menu and click quit, he would instantly go to main menu and leave the game he was playing, thus lose his progress. I hope this will be fixed. Also, configurable autosave would help with this as well, but I'd say that asking if the player is sure that he wants to leave the current game is a necessity. I'd also like to add again that multiplayer in Stronghold 2 with AI Manager works really good. The only issue is that AI lords don't build siege camps while attacking, or - they may not be sending periodically full attacks at all. Still, even like this is is way better then being able to fight against outlaws only.
  20. Back when you wrote this I was thinking about to read it, but I was always doing that partially, and I never wrote a feedback. :) As you know, this was very helpful to me. I will only say what I do now to compare your way with mine. While you want to place stockpile closer to stone, iron and wood, I do it differently - I start by placing two stockpiles next to each other near my stone keep, and I place my granary close to the fireplace in front of the keep. I do this because I can always add few more ox tethers to bring me stone faster, while this way I can also build my workshops and bakeries close to those stockpiles, so I get efficiency, and they will be easily protected within my walls. I also keep in mind - the smaller my castle is, the easier it will be defended. Also, I place bakeries between granary and stockpiles. Another thing - I build two stockpiles because in later stages of the game I will be sending lots of resources into my castle, and this way I don't have to worry if it is full while I'm fighting. I am unsure what you meant by this, but I do tend to buy some stone after the first promotion to build lords kitchen. I don't have to buy wood, I usually have a lot of wood pretty soon, but I do buy some food for lords kitchen. This way I can get promoted to another ranks quickly, and perhaps even buy a village. I do have this habit to buy that fancy food I don't produce - in my castle estate I mostly build only vegetable gardens and pig farms. I also buy clothes. Still, here you were describing how to make a start, and how to prepare for battle by our usual deal not to attack before we are dukes.I would like to bring into this tread how to make gold, to hear what are your ways. For example, what I usually do is producing food to give my people double rations. This way I get honor too. Also, I build church - castles are easily produced even inside the castle if needed, but it's preferred in a village, and thanks to church and food I get +16 popularity factor which allows me to take maximum taxes - to -16. Do you do the same way? I usually use only food and church to get this popularity factor, but do you use inn for example? In my case they are unnecessary. On the other hand, maybe I would be getting more gold overall if I build an inn and produce ale to get +8 popularity factor, and not to give double rations to people but to sell food. This way I would be getting less honor, but I would get more gold... So actually, we choose between more gold or more honor. :) What is your choice here? :)
  21. Perhaps we could see about the next weekend right away! How about next Sunday (or another day) at the same time (or later)? EDIT: Oh, and, Lord Chris... :) I just just started reading this tread, and I noticed "Try and keep above 5000 gold. This will reassure that you can train a lot of troops as backup.". Then I wanted to tell you - this time I got everything working in my castle so well, that when I started attacking you didn't have only 5,000 gold as Mathew said would be good, but I know that in one moment I had 18,000 gold. :D This was a good game, though for me it was even better... I was only a little bit slow with adding some economy buildings in my villages. On the other hand, when I was making this map, I set those villages to have larger economies, so they had resources to be sent to my castle from the moment I bought them.
  22. I play it in 1024x768 - even if I play on wide screen. I could see more on higher resolution, but I'm used to this one. :)
  23. No problem, my friend. :) We will meet another time on battlefield. ;)
  24. Also, as it's going to be four of us against two AI lords, I would suggest to play with biggest human disadvantage. Beside this, I am also suggesting considering to play Tri Reke so we could play 4vs4. I'm not insisting on this, of course. :)
  25. Sure, Tokamaps, I'm glad you'll be able to join as well. :) Also, Mathew, we could make another event for the next weekend. Keep in mind, the tool is still being reported as a virus, but like with the older version of the tool - we believe it is safe. If you need any help with the tool, ask us in the tread. And of course, like I have written there already - only the host needs to use the tool, which is great. Oh, and Chris, you have a good PC, right? I think the Hanne would work better if I set everything, leave the room - leave the host to the another one, and come back. The change could lay if the host is on a less powerful machine. My newer one would be good, but if I'm going to be on my older one - this trick could be necessary. Fortunately, all of you have better PC's than my older one.
