Yes, I was speaking to you! :) I saw that was your first post, and some time before your first post I mentioned SHN forum to him hoping that he would register here. But just to make it clear - I'm not disappointed, what is more, I love the fact that there are even more of us over here! I hope that all of us who are going to get Stronghold 2 Steam Edition will play at least few multiplayer games in honor to that. :)
-
Well, we could play few games in honor to the beginning of the new era of Steam multiplayer at Stronghold 2. :) By the way, are you rfortuna from Stronghold Heaven maybe? :) And one more thing. There has been another video about few maps from SHH picked by Firefly for the Steam Edition. One of them is a map from our dear friend Lord Vetka, also knows as Sir_Vet. :) Stronghold 2: Steam Edition - Top 5 Custom Maps

Well, we may have misunderstood each other now... I didn't mean on stuff that were worn maximum four times, or something like that. Still, I don't think that you HAVE to do it, but you do it to spare some money, and you're looking maturely at that. Still, it all depends of where you live, and where you're from. In some places people are just more practical, while in some other places they act like snobs no matter whether they are actually rich or poor. I often criticize people here in Serbia for being too snobbish... I mean, people are not snobbish in general, but they raise their kids in such a way. Later those kids learn that life's not easy, but parents should teach them that earlier. That's just my opinion. I realize that everybody wants to best for their children, but I hope that if I would buy something to my kid (when I have it), that it wouldn't make fun of another kid whose parents couldn't afford that. That disgusts me... Only that I can understand when some people feel ashamed to buy second hand stuff because I also grew up among such people. BUT I cannot actually say that this is something that regards to Serbia. Maybe it was only something about my part of the city, or my grammar school, or something like that. One good thing is that I very often hear younger kids speaking about selling their books, buying used ones, and about trading them for other books.

AI lords in multiplayer! :D I would really love to have some gaming events with us fighting against AI lords together... EDIT: If we were able to play against William's, and without using knights and some siege engines, we would have to fight like lions in order to win the war! Oh, but there goes an easy one! Suggest them to implement castle layouts by Ericgolf instead of their own, and to replace two Williams castles with mine in which I fixed their mistakes. This makes even singleplayer a lot harder and more exciting. I'm gonna write them about it myself too, but it's much more likely that they will consider it if you tell them.

Wow, those are great news, I'm gonna check it this evening! Regarding FPS, I'm 100% sure that with speed 60 FPS would be 60 as well, but that's just too fast. Just forget this FPS thing, Stronghold and Stronghold Crusader simply don't work like that.

Finally some news! Stronghold 2 Steam Edition is soon to be released. This is what is going to be new. -Steam Multiplayer: quite good actually! -Steam Workshop: heck, does anybody really need that... :D -Some new maps: no way those are going to be better than maps made by Sir Vet, or Tokamaps for example. :D -Artwork, etc. -Steam Achievements: might be interesting. -Visual Enhancements: few new textures, and more resolutions available, so no more stretched screen. Too bad that they are not going to bring us AI lords in multiplayer. That part is so disappointing for me, and I also see many others asking for that very same thing.

Your opinion of rats, gong, and criminals in Stronghold 2?
EaglePrince replied to EaglePrince's topic in Stronghold 2
Well, I don't know if that is truly more efficient, but I like Charles' creativity! :D I mean, for me it seems to be more efficient to build woodcutters right away when the game starts, so I would sooner get more wood. In this case Charles gets 3 wood for building one woodcutter free of charge, but does "lose" some wood for building his woodcutters some time later. Still, it's not that he gets only those 3 wood for the first woodcutter, he would get some other materials sooner as well. So I guess we really cannot tell without knowing how does exactly Charles start the game. But let's not think about efficiency so much, and just enjoy the game. Let everybody choose for themselves what is the best tactic for them. :) Stronghold games are where I simply love diversity! :D -
Still, I don't see why would you judge her for not wanting to buy a second hand clothes... Even in Serbia, which is so poor country, many people wouldn't want to admit that they have bought their cloths in such a store. If you ask me, I also dislike those stuff - judging other students who buy second hand clothes, who bring their breakfast from home, etc... But I think it's a sindrome of poor countries. Because those who are poor would be ashamed if they were labeled like that, and then they tend to spend more money on some stuff only to show they are not poor. I mean, in this particular case, if I got it right, she didn't tell you that something that you do is wrong, but that it was hard for her to accept. And indeed, you cannot expect those people who come to brace your values instantly once they land in the USA. It takes some time, they need to learn, and to get to understand you, and by the time she might even share your opinions. What is problem is when people come into your country expecting your country to adopt to their needs and likes. (Such as coming to a Christian land, and spreading hate towards Christians. In that case - GTFO! :D ) Plus, I am pretty sure that we could even find lots of Americans who feel the same way about buying second hand cloths. Also, I am sure that you don't actually have to buy second hand cloths, but for you that is an acceptable way to save money. And I am glad that people where you live look at that that way, I wish it was the case where I live too. Hack, when I was in elementary school and high school (which was from 1996 to 2008) at some moments I felt ashamed for buying second hand books, because almost everybody else used to buy new ones. What to say, I wish I was more mature back than, but I guess I couldn't know better considering my age in that time. And as you know, life in Serbia wasn't easy in that time. Maybe that's the case with your teacher as well. Maybe she just wasn't mature enough to overcome some stuff from their home country...

New Community Liaison - and forum update!
EaglePrince replied to Lord_Chris's topic in The Town Crier
I'm fine with Stronghold 2, that sounds good! Only I wouldn't have the time to make a map, but if somebody can do it, I'm for it. -
This could seam like some conspiracy theory, but I feel that these ideals of diversity are just being pushed to us, the same way as they have been pushing with homosexuality... Most of people don't agree with those stuff, and yet don't you dare to say something against homosexuals, or hurt an animal, or speak how stray dogs can be dangerous in large numbers, and how they need to be put to sleep, and lastly, don't you dare to speak how diversity is a bad thing... Still, like I said before, diversity is a good thing, but as long as none of the parties is not against some others. I feel this is the case with many Muslims for example, they just dislike Christians and Atheists. So basically, they dislike Europeans. :D Although in my town we have so many different churches which are a fine reminder that different people can get along with each other. But still, those people were similar enough, they even shared similar mentality. Another thing that bugs me... If Europe does need some workers, how does it come that they don't get them from Eastern Europe and Latin America? I don't think any Latin American would hate Europeans, and similar with Eastern Europeans. I'm I right? And these are similar enough to be able to coexist in the same area. Definitely more similar that Muslims from Arab countries and Europeans.

New Community Liaison - and forum update!
EaglePrince replied to Lord_Chris's topic in The Town Crier
Congratulations, Mathew! You deserved this! By the way, regarding the forum updates. Could we try to find some more templates for Stronghold Nation? Pantherone would be great with edited colors, but it has been acting bad lately, so even changing its colors wouldn't be worth it. Some stuff are simply misplaced. What exactly are these forums? In the bottom it says Powered by Panther, but when I click on Panther, it leads me to no where. Even google searching for Panther forums doesn't give me any results. I'm asking this again because I would still like to have a mobile friendly template for the forums. There are ways to force it into one column, but still - having the template adoptable to screen width would be more preferable. Another thing would be - can we help translate these forums into our languages? Such as Serbo-Croatian, or Serbian? And does this depend of us here on this forum in particular, or it depends of those who provide us the template? And lastly, what you say about making a gaming event - we could play whatever game we want? Stronghold 2, Stronghold Crusader? You name it. :) -
Well, first of all, your teacher is obviously a leftist... You just accept her is she is, and that's it. Though it is harsh from her side to tell you these stuff how you are rasist, etc. This is how I see it. When somebody sais "flaws of Christianity is that, that, and that" (thus comparing why some other religion is right and Christianity is wrong), that is just ignorance. But when somebody sais "Christians are like that, that, and that", then I am ready to call him a fascist, rasist, etc. :D Having something against certain people only because of their religion, color of skin, or whatever is wrong. At least when we speak about people individually! That is the most important part of my statement. We cannot state that every single Muslim is a terrorist, just as much no Muslim cannot state that every single Christian is like whatever bad... But when speaking about the issue in general, as when we discus whether the UK should accept more migrants or not, then it is entirely different. The fact is that Islam nowadays is being used for bad purposes on regular basis. So because of that accepting them in large numbers into your country is dangerous. And finally. As we were speaking before, all religions can be religions of peace, or religions of war, depending of the state of certain people. If Arab countries flourished, I am sure that Islam wouldn't be in the state it is in today. And same with Christianity. If Europeans were oppressed, then it is very likely Christianity. Let me give you few examples from conflicts on Balkan. Aloysius Stepinac This was a Croatian cardinal (a Catholic) who was involved in ethnic cleansing, that is in killing many innocent Serbs. Now Croats want to declare him a saint, and Serbs are disgusted by that. And it's not that they were the inly ones. Even orthodox priests were sending off and blessing Serbian soldiers who would go to war during 90's. You might say "but fine, they were going to protect Serbs who were left in Croatia and Bosnia", but I just want to point you out that every religion is being used for non-peaceful purposes as well. That is to raise morale, to encourage more young people to go to war, etc. (Just a little bit of history, so you would better understand how Serbian soldiers were defending (or "defending", you decide) somebody in Croatia. Before WWII Kingom of Yugoslavia didn't have ethnic provinces, but those were made out of certain regions, in order to prevent separatism of some regions. After WWII they decided to make ethical republics Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, etc. But these borders couldn't be drawn perfectly because there were vast regions in which many nations were mixed. For example, in Srem and Slavonia, which is all the way from Belgrade to Zagreb lived so many Serbs and so many Croats, so both Serbs and Croats didn't want to leave these territories to the other. No matter how you would draw the border, both side would feel they were at loss. And that's what happened with the borders made after WWII. Later during 90's when Croats wanted to leave Yugoslavia, Serbs felt as they were tricked by those who drew the border, and they rushed to fixed it - with war. Because, really, there was no other way to fix that border. I don't know how would the life for Serbs be live in Croatia if there weren't wars in 90's, but the president of SR Yugoslavia was sure that they would be oppressed. Only I can say for sure that for Serbs from Croatia it would have been better without war, because being driven away from their homes and everything else that happened because Yugoslavia lost the war was far worse than the alternative.) Oh, and main difference between Croats and Serbs is in religion - one are Catholic, the others are Orthodox. All religions can be misused.

Your opinion of rats, gong, and criminals in Stronghold 2?
EaglePrince replied to EaglePrince's topic in Stronghold 2
I think this isn't a bug. It is obvious with that Firefly did want to make it possible for players to rebuild. This with popularity works in the same way in all other Stronghold games until Stronghold 3 and Crusader 2 in which popularity works entirely different. Also, take the example with woodcutters hut which costs 0 wood if you have no other woodcutters hut. This works the same way in all Stronghold games as far as I know. I'm pretty sure that is no mistake. -
Stronghold 2 AI Editor - trying to add troops on added tower
EaglePrince replied to EaglePrince's topic in Stronghold 2
Or maybe he did put rally points, but too many rally points. Making more rally points doesn't make their defenses stronger, it only makes them ignore most of your rally points. -
My man! :D Although I haven't been doing like that for quite a while now, but mostly because I start playing as a free man, and later I just might be too lazy add those stuff for beheading. But it's not just laziness actually, it used also the fact that that way I wouldn't get any honor. Which on the other hand could be compensated with few statues I think... :)

Changes to the "Last Edited" notice
EaglePrince replied to Mathew Steel's topic in Site Questions and Support
I agree, that font might be at last a little bit smaller. Plus, I think it would be great if this "Last edited" thing wouldn't appear if I edit my post only few minutes after posting it. :) If that is not hard for Chris to do though. Those are still minor issues. Well, they are not even issues. :) -
I think we all believe you're a good guy, so no worry. :) But I just had to use the opportunity to make the joke. :D I hope you would hang with us a bit more actually, Stronghold Nation is a fine place to chill. :) Plus, you also have Crusader's threads in The Open Castle Inn which are very interesting. And if you find some articles which you could relate to your national history, you might even share that with the rest of us. That would make it even more interesting. ;)

Watch out, we got a badass over here! :D Just joking. But no, unfortunately there is no way to play Stronghold 2 1.4.1 in LAN. One of the reasons for that might be the fact that most of people would still play it on GameRanger anyway. I do agree however that it would be a lot better to have the option to play it in LAN as well. For obvious reasons... But for start I would love to be able to fight against AI lords with human allies. Even with multiplayer manager that doesn't work so great, they don't attack as hard as they would in singleplayer.

Hey, guys, check this out? Age of Empires Definitive Edition It looks really cool to me, and in the matter of fact - far batter than many of those HD editions of many games, even Stronghold Crusader. I mean, this isn't only about enabling higher resolutions, and making the game to look better on wide screens and laptops, this is, as they say, almost all new or remastered textures, and improved mechanics. At least so they say. So then I though, it would be awesome to have a Definitive Edition of Stronghold Crusader, and Stronghold 1. What do you think? There is some room for improvements. For example, they could make easier to make walls in more than just four directions. It could be done so that, when one builds a wall from point A to point B, the wall wouldn't be made out of two segments with two different directions, but it would be made with much more breaks. So that way one would be able to easily make a castle similar to Wazir's for example. They wouldn't have to make in many steps building two by two blocks, but they could make it in three steps. Maybe even troops could move in similar way, though this may not be necessary if they couldn't make it without looking ugly. We wouldn't like to see soldiers changing their direction after every two steps. Plus, what we have always wanted - bigger maps! This is what could be done more easily, but what I would love to have even more is almost the exact copy of Stronghold Crusader or Stronghold 1 (but with AI lords), but with better graphics, improved mechanics as I have described above, and in 2D, plus with unit collision. Empire Earth 1 is a 2D game with unit collision, so it shouldn't effect the performance. Of course, this is yet another thread about what we would love to see, but after seeing these news about Age of Empires I just couldn't help myself. :D

Stronghold 2 Manager is here! Possible to play MP game with bots
EaglePrince replied to EaglePrince's topic in Stronghold 2
Hi. The problem is that the creator of this tool has made it, and then he vanished. :) If we haven't found this file thanks to a YouTuber we would still be thinking that this tool for the version 1.4.1 doesn't exists. Perhaps, maybe we would even think that the story about playing Stronghold 2 1.4.1 or 1.3.1 is a myth, alongside with its legendary creator about whom we don't know anything. :D I think there is somewhere his username mentioned, and I think that's all we've got. Sadly, this is all we have, and I fear that we cannot expect for anything more when it comes to fanmade tools. Our best bet would be for Firefly to release Stronghold 2 Steam Edition with multiplayer enabled. Unfortunately, even though they said it would be released somewhere around New Year, it still hasn't been released. What a pity, I hope they are going to make it. -
I agree, I do still like that part of my job right now at the university. The only thing about my university (or my country) is that we actually get too much subject and too much students to teach, and we struggle to find some time to learn for our own exams, and not to mention doing science. :( I hope it would get better after I would finish my PhD studies though, but now I realize it would have been easier if I just left abroad to another university with better work conditions. Yeah, that about many Stronghold players has always bugged me, and I wish Firefly could have done something to force players to build "actual castles", and without the gameplay paying the price.
-
Quite interesting. I haven't seen that castle layout either. At least I don't remember.
-
Nice. :) Would be interesting to know if there are even more teachers among us from Stronghold Heaven/Knights/Nation. :) Yes, it is a little bit long fight, but once you get to kill Rat and Snake it gets a lot easier. I remember even managing to win that mission by making "an actual" castle, that is - without building farms behind the walls. Also, the first time I won that mission Wolf managed to collect 100,000 gold, and it was so hard to kill him. That was the first time for me to build around 100 catapults. And hell, it was effective. :D I didn't kill him in that first attacking wave, he used to repair the castle during the attack, but that did weaken him a lot, and the next attack was fatal.
-
So glad to see you, Lord Paul. :) Yes, The Forgotten is quite a hard mission. It was one of those it took me days until I figured out how to win that one, when I was playing those missions for the first time. So glad to see another one among us being teacher! Well, now I'm at university, but before that I used to teach mathematics in high school for almost two years, and I taught math in an elementary school for one semester. What is your subject? :)
