Lord Vekta: do you want to do a joined map project?
Lord Vetka replied to Nigel's topic in Stronghold Crusader 2
"A Tale of Two Cities" is now finished and can be found in the download skirmish section! Thank You every one who helped or commented as we went along, it was a good fun map project, and we hope to do more. Enjoy your stay in our A Tale of Two Cities map! The map has turned out very well, we are happy with how it turned out, it plays great in testing and looks good doing it to:-) Nigel does a great job on those screen shots. The map is now done, just a few more little adjustments and it will be posted, we hope this week. -

Space colony is not like stronghold at all, you have to build a space base, and babysit your workers, the game is played from inside the base and outside when you send out workers to gather resources, if you like baby sitting a bunch of whiners then you might like it. That demo was hard, probably easy now but back then, I thought it was amazing! -

Very Nice! Those screens look really good, you do a great job on those. :) That was a good test, even if the other 2 players played rather than test, which was good actually, Yes I know we got our butts kicked:-) But we did produce a top notch map, it will be a fun map to play and looks good doing it. It was a good fun project Nigel, I look forward to doing more in the future, not sure how far I can go, my PC is at the limits, start getting a lot of troops on the map and I start to stall and it gets jerky to the point of not being able to grab units with the mouse, I might be able to clear it up a little with a few setting changes, that will be another thread. I think the map will be posted soon, maybe this week! -

We all go through that, in games and life, just life, I have been playing these games for as long as I can remember and more than a few times stayed away from the Stronghold series for a while and always come back after a short break! I started by finding the Crusader demo online and never looked back, I own all versions of the game, I even have Space Colony:-) See you soon! -

Thank You Micha!, finally we can make working invasion maps:-) I still have no idea of how to use the rest of the markers, like the siege camp starts here, harass troops start here, I did a whole bunch of testing and they never changed, it came down to a simple place a #1 blue flag where you want the troops to come in one more where you want them to move to just outside of the range of the castle, place an invasion path marker by the keep, or in any area inside the territory you marked, script the invasions to come into flag one and move to flag 2, and they do all the rest like they should. -
I like that roll, supporting is fun, fighting and destroying are fun to though, but that does come with support anyway! I would be worried about not connecting properly and waisting your time, I would like to be sure of the connection first, I will ask for help in another thread later. You guys play and enjoy the game!

This does sound interesting, but I'm afraid that my setup is not ready for online play, I would want to get it setup and test it first. If I get my PC setup for online gaming before then, maybe I would be able to play. No promise.

Thanks guys, it took a while to figure out how to make working invasions, to simple really, it's not worth an article, just download the map and see for yourself how to do it. I will post about how to do it in another post. I guess if my maps are to be on the other sites I might have to post them myself, C2 will be in the Steam workshop on the 9th, I can post it there. Eagle you will have to see about getting C2 now, it's getting interesting, new maps showing up, invasions that work, maps with villages made into cities, I have an idea for a new large invasion map, I will try and add in an AI castle for you to siege after defending, I will probably start on it this week after I'm done detailing "Two Cities", that's just about done now. Just to mention, the river is sea with some grass to green it up a bit, sea is interesting that it's at one level and you have to lower the ground to make it show, so making deep gullies and cliffs and drop offs in the sea is quite easy. -
Can't uninstall Crusader 1.2-1.3HD
Lord Vetka replied to Lord Vetka's topic in Stronghold Crusader & Crusader Extreme
Just to let you know, I have been successful in removing all traces of Crusader from my computer, now I have version 1.1, 1.2 and 1.2e installed and working properly now, that was a long slow painful job getting the old files out, I kept running different file tools until I could reinstall the games. Thanks for your help! -
I just posted the very first working invasion maps for Crusader 2, Bretar you have seen already, but this version is war scenario and is scripted harder than the old skirmish map. Arvand is my first war scenario, it's a small map with big invasions, work to slow and you will be defeated, invasions start at day 24 and the last invasion starts at day 52, a few chances to breath in between, enough resources to build a good castle and economy, plus building a defending army will be not to hard, Enjoy your stay! Lord Vekta: do you want to do a joined map project?
Lord Vetka replied to Nigel's topic in Stronghold Crusader 2
No problem this a map project not a rush project, I did some detailing and plan on doing more later today, if we don't get the map tested this week there is always next week. If Thursday works then maybe we could do a test run, Nigel might be able to play on Thursday, anyone else want to test with us? 2vs2 with 2 cities split into 2 villages each, so each player gets a village! -

It's a good looking map with good sites to setup almost any kind of game. You should let people know that these maps can be played with Crusader 1.2, they just don't have the detail and will be played with the Crusader elements. -
What an interesting design, you should keep up the work, we could use some maps in the SH1 downloads. Thanks for posting!

Lord Vekta: do you want to do a joined map project?
Lord Vetka replied to Nigel's topic in Stronghold Crusader 2
The map is almost done now, I hope it plays as good as it looks, most of the testing we have done shows that it should be a good game. When we have 4 players testing we will know. If you want to join in the online testing, please let us know here! We would like to be able to test this week. I have to say Nigel, building this map has taught us a lot about the map editor and the game, and we have learned from each other, like moving things after being placed or deleting things, and changing buildings in the objects panel, and importantly, how the villages work...maybe the next time we make an invasion scenario! -

Well, that's an accomplishment, build a map with 2 cities split into 2 villages each and have them balanced, great! It will be good to test this map with 4 players, it's been a fun project, I look forward to seeing what you did and playing it. -

Hi EaglePrince, I will be making time for a game, look forward to it, see you on the battle field! -
Now would it not be great if they took both games and melded them together, then we could have the best of SH3 and SHC2 then make what ever type of maps we want. You could have the Sultan in the desert flowing into the grass lands of King Richard, battles fought over desert oasis and forested hills full of iron, could be interesting! Arabian Lords fighting European Lords fighting great battles online in the desert and the forests! Oh Well, just a little dream!

Yes I did make one map for SH3 and it was a war scenario and worked fine. I have found something that might make the invasions work, I did manage to have a siege invasion work, then made a change now it does not work but I have not had a chance to try again, I will today. What I did was to place 3 markers, an entry point a move to point and a target point, the target point is in front of the keep, the move to point is outside the castle and range of towers. then I put a siege marker next to the move to marker, the enemy would come in and do nothing, siege just stood at the entry marker. Then I looked in the marker tab and went to the third tab and it's pathing/double click and you get a chain/ double click the chain and you get a number 1 marker, I placed the marker at the entry marker then clicked the chain again and got a number 2 marker with green lines to the first marker, I put this one by the go to marker, then I clicked again and got a number 3 marker that I put by the keep marker. I saved and tested the setup, now the siege came in at the entry marker and proceeded to attack my castle, including the cross bows I included with the siege, so I went back into the editor and deleted the siege marker and tried again but now it would not work. I think the key might be in the path markers, I noticed in the editor when I saved it asked if the path markers were set, and always it was a red NO, this time it was a green yes, the path markers seem to have an effect, give it a try, I will be doing more testing!

Those screens look great, the touch ups you did made them look even better, more like that would be great! Thanks. I said I would do some work on the map yesterday, but the day got eaten up, but I will do some work this morning and send the map over to you for some more detail in the cities. -
Great, with checking every day I did not need to be subscribed to the forum posts, but the downloads we don't check every day so this will be much better, I changed the settings. I do see that it could be just a bit better, automatically send an email when someone posts to your download files. I say that because I don't make any posts to my files unless someone makes a comment and I reply to it.

Yes I played around with your map in the editor and in game, the horse archers just stood there, even the cat that you sent up the hill did not fire on the estate, the troops came down and retook the village, only because my range units were firing on them. I have made several test maps and this time it will be one thing at a time, maybe there is just something we are missing, the invasions work great if the map is skirmish. it makes me a bit squeamish:-)
