OK, I'm in multiplayer waiting for it to appear.

@Doomsword: Wow, that glitch is amazing! Of all the times I've played SH2, nothing has ever happened like that before. I've even sent him into several man traps and nothing happened. The enemy just doesn't even appear to notice he's there. But, he did die eventually. Very cool glitch :)

Good! The more the better. :)
-
Hopefully there'll be several players then. I've added the links into the menu, and you can view the events at http://www.stronghold-nation.com/community/events I haven't added any yet in case you want to add it through the admin pane with the details I PMed you with.

Great idea. I 100% agree. I'll create a page in the main site where you can post the times of the gaming events along with more details on them. We can do more than one lobby though if we need to, I'm sure. :) It will also allow guests to participate which will be better.

Just as a note: If you subscribe to this thread, you will receive an email when a new reply gets added.

The first thing I'll do when I find out is post here - believe me, it's generally simple it's just finding the correct files. :) It's definitely in the /stronghold2/shaders directory. And the thing is, that's all you have to change in the entire game to change any colours. Once you find the colours there, it should automatically change everywhere else. I have found several colours already. For example, when you see "COLOR0" that represents red and when you see "COLOR1" that represents black. I'm trying to figure it out more, but I'm slowed down massively by my lack of knowledge with C++.
-
Great :) I'm still up for it.

Moved to "Site Questions/Support". That sounds like a pretty good idea, and a new (possibly better) type of competition. If you could create such a map that would be very good. Send me a PM and we'll talk more about it.

I'm looking for a couple of people who have basic (or advanced) knowledge of C++ to heavily modify Stronghold 2 and create the same kind of estate switcher that is present in stronghold legends. I.E. When an evil lord (I.E. Vlad takes over an estate, it becomes evil terrain with evil buildings, ice becomes ice.etc. I know what to do and where most of the files are, however, I'm slowed down massively by my lack of knowledge with C++. People with XML knowledge would also be valued. You can PM me, email me @ lordchris@stronghold-nation.com or post back here for more info thanks. Note that XML != substitute for C++ :)

OK, I must be honest, I completely forgot about it for a while. However, I installed the updates and tried to run it when it crashed with an error. I can't remember what it was, but I know it was due to some C++ stuff I attempted in the /stronghold 2/shaders/ directory (exactly why I need volunteers to help me :) ). I'll reinstall the game and then run it. Sorry, once more for the wait, I should reinstall it soon.

That same problem with the water happened on @bradley0095's file Protecting Your Lands 2v4, and he made his with version 1.4. I would be surprised if not everything cleared though. You could make sure by removing the /My Documents/Stronghold 2/ folder. I'm not actually sure whether that does get deleted when you uninstall it, I certainly haven't noticed it go before. There are also some files inside c:/ProgramData/ I think, and again, I'm not sure whether that gets deleted. Let me know when you find it out though :) That will be good, I'm glad you can post some completely finished ones again. Also, I'm planning on making the new deadline for the contest the 20/03/2014, just to let you know. Don't worry, I was attempting to change the way emails get sent, but it wasn't working so I changed it back. You only just did it before I changed it back mind, as in seconds. I've removed the other message, no problem. :)

This appears to be a very common, and most frustrating issue with the game versions. Troops crossing rivers is another common issue, however, not necessarily caused by game versions: http://www.stronghold-nation.com/article/20-rivers-menu#other Have you used this icon at all? There will probably be some way to overcome it, but it will be similar to the Map Unlocker and run on Java. Unfortunately I have had no experience with that. I actually have attempted to locate the changes in files, but have been unable to find any massive changes as of yet. But of course with the .dll files being unreadable (virtually) it's quite hard. Just a note: One glitch I have noticed is that any buildings (including keeps) will let units go straight through them like they don't even exist. And with the keep, The Lord will not be able to get inside.

Oh. Maybe it's that your user group can't download them? I'll send you them via email and I'll see if I can fix it. Issue should now be fixed.

Do not PM staff for game help. Why? The reason is simple. Our staff are devoted to helping people, and always try to help as much as possible. By not sending individual staff members a PM and posting in the forum, you will also help other people with a similar problem, and they can also get the answer to it as well. This will also mean that it avoids duplicate posts and it helps visitors (and other members) find what they are looking for easier, helping people in the future who may have similar problems. Our staff spend more than one hour online a day, and they will see your topics eventually. If our staff do not reply, then you may get a reply from another member. Sending a PM only duplicates topics, wastes server space, and our time. All PMs send to us for game help will be ignored. Post a topic in the forum of your choice. Sending PMs such as "My topic link: " will result in your topic being closed thus meaning no replies will be accepted. If you continuously and deliberately do this, then we may remove your right to use the PM. By using the forum, everyone can benefit from your answer, so you could be unconsciously helping someone in the future.

I've attached the archive to this post, you should be able to get it. I've sent you a PM with the details on how to get this into the game. archive.zip

Your firewall can sometimes mistake Stronghold 2 for an intruder on your computer and block it from connecting, it shows your firewall is on and doing its job though, which is good. If you don't really play online this can be a good thing, you can never be too careful with firewall - even when it is a trusted program like Stronghold 2. Believe me. The less programs that are allowed through your firewall the better. But what if you want to update the game? If you are running a patch lower than 1.4.1, then you should be prompted for your downloading the latest patch - unless your firewall is blocking it. You can see all stronghold 2 patch versions here. However, for every benefit, windows firewall is known globally to sometimes be a pain when it comes to blocking program connections. Though it seems like a very hard issue to solve, it is actually relatively easy to fix. Do a search on your machine for "Windows Firewall with Advanced Security" in the search box when you click start. Or, hit WINDOWS + R and type c:\windows\system32\WF.msc -> [Press Enter] Open it up. You may be prompted for administrator permission or a password. If so, enter it then continue. Those of you who know a lot about computers will know you are now in the Microsoft Management Console. You should click the "Outbound rules" icon on the top left. Next, on the right, click "New Rule". Make sure that "Program" is selected, then click Next. Make sure that "This Program Path" is selected and click browse. Go to the root directory of stronghold 2 - the default is C:\Program Files (x86)\Firefly Studios\Stronghold 2. You need to select the main Stronghold 2 application. (You may also have to select a handful of other files as well) Click Next, then "Allow Connection". You have just allowed Stronghold 2 through your firewall - but that's only one of two steps. If you play multiplayer you will get messages, right? You will need to setup an inbound rule as well otherwise nothing will be allowed into your computer, but it will be allowed out. Go to the top left, click "Inbound Rules" and repeat the steps above.

As much as I know about Stronghold 2, I must confess I've never played online, and just wonder what the differences are and whether it's worth playing online. Anyone want a game?

Today marks a milestone in the creation of our website; we have finally finished with the creation of our site home, here. This marks a huge achievement because we can finally (after long and careful time spent) finally focus on creating articles, downloads and other features of this site - so you are able to actually enjoy it :) We have also finished other areas of our site, our download central being one of the most prominent ones. After taking four/five full months to create it, we can finally (and very happily) say that it has been completed! We have included all our comment, review and update features that we ever wanted to, and in fact even managed to include more than ever anticipated or wanted. Our Stronghold 2 section is finished, we're just looking for an easy(ier) way to integrate the polls with it, and apart from that it's completely finished! Stronghold Crusader is completely finished, just needing articles posted. And of course, not forgetting our forums, we need slight alterations there, but it's practically done too. We would like to thank FluxBB very much for making this opportunity available for us; without those kind developers there, our site would cease to exist in the same way it does today. I'm afraid that our admin end is not quite as far ahead as that, it may take several days to get it up to the same level of making everything easy to change through it. The good news is though, after one entire day spent in our Gallery, that is now 100% complete as well! + the admin end of our Gallery. It shouldn't take nearly as long to create more websites now. So, after 4-5 months of enhancing and creating the essential parts of our website, I can proudly say that it is done, and we are now back to where we were before - CivCity Rome, here we come! We have (and always will) make sure that users on our site get the maximum benefit from visiting, and I personally can't wait to see where the site goes next! You can expect some big articles now - And you thought that the article posted about adding Stronghold Legends Lords into Stronghold 2 was big! You've yet to see what we fully have to offer ;)

I'll update the game to 1.4.1 on my Windows 7 Machine and attempt it there. Hopefully it will work there. It does sound really cool though :)
-
Hmm... I've downloaded the file and nothing happens. Is it the spearmen that first appears on screen? I have also noticed that all of the troops that are on the walls disappear underneath, which is a sign of corrupted files. I haven't actually really modified the game since I purchased Windows 8, so the only thing I can think of is a difference in version (or OS, but not very likely). I've left a comment on the file, hopefully Skullus will be able to tell me what game version he got the glitch on. Does it still work for you?

I've promoted you, you can now post links.

That's one of the reasons I love it so much, and especially since modding it is so easy as well. I'm quite sad that stronghold 3 is on Steam, partially because you can't modify it, and also because it's just generally annoying. But, I suppose from Firefly's view it does stop the modding, which for them would be good. Would you be able to post a link to those files you talked about above, they sound pretty good? I've also seen your email, would you like to write the tutorial if I gave you a link via the PM? Seen as you wrote it initially for HG, you should get the credit for it here as well.
