Your challenge for this week is: Explore the Stronghold Legends editor and create something with custom messages in. This can be any form of map, any size, any scenario type. Just make it playable, with a win and lose condition, and include at least 1 custom message! Useful resources http://www.stronghold-nation.com/downloads/file/361-additional-messages/ Note: Your entry must be attached to this topic by Midnight on Saturday to be counted in this challenge (14/2/16 23:59). If no entry is attached (via .zip. then your entry will not be counted! The results will be revealed on Sunday. Good luck everyone!

You're posting some great guides here, thanks @Frankel. I'm sure you will help a great many people with them. Would you mind if I add a few as actual articles on the main site for better visibility? Perhaps you might even like to setup a help thread in this forum where people can post on it for help with the missions?

Announcing Stronghold's biggest ever competition!
Lord_Chris replied to Lord_Chris's topic in The Town Crier
Not quite sure what you mean by "pass or clear", but yes, you won it clearly. -
Good to know the issue was resolved. Let us know if you have any more questions! :)

Announcing Stronghold's biggest ever competition!
Lord_Chris replied to Lord_Chris's topic in The Town Crier
That's a good idea @Nigel. I'll try and make a dynamic real-time results board on the main site that will be linked to every week, that could help improve competitiveness. @Tokamaps - you won week 1 ;) -
You're clearly not doing something slightly right, but from your description I can't quite tell what it is. Maybe it might be best if we saw what you were doing. Would you be willing to video it for us?

I extracted it to the desktop first, then made the change. Once I did that, I changed the file extension then archived it all back up again. In one test, I did cut but as long as you're changing the file extension it should be fine anyway. When you edit the file extension can you see the '.txt' part (or '.ed')?
-
That's a huge shame Nigel! Hope you have a good weekend though :)

I'm not quite sure why, what happens? Does the file extension disappear or do you get some kind of message?

Maps are located in the folder \Steam\steamapps\common\Stronghold Crusader 2\assets\maps for Stronghold Crusader 2, and \Steam\steamapps\common\Stronghold3\assets\maps for Stronghold 3.

It was an amazing game, and it worked very well - it would be fun to have another game similar sometime. Great write-up too! Not too much text and the screenshots perfectly illustrated the point. :)

Your challenge is: Create the county of Mirkwood from The Lord of The Rings using the Stronghold 1 Editor. Users should ensure that the Castle of Dol Guldur is added to the map, and they must destroy it to win. You can use the following map for information on what to place where. The map can be any size, any type (though we recommend landscape) and any other means necessary! Are there any translation files in either of the zip files you sent? I can't exactly see any, what is it you'd like translating? -
Pinned.

Adventure #01 - A Duke in Distress
Lord_Chris replied to Charles of Tours's topic in Adventures in the Duchy of Riverbourne
Suddenly a nearby door could be heard creaking in the distance, and footsteps could be heard. A few seconds later a cloaked figure enters the room. The others instantly kneel before him. "Has the plan of attack been executed?" "Yes, my lord. The Duke is exactly where we want him to be. " replies the second. "It is as you foretold, your highness. Everything is coming true that was in the prophecy." replied another. "Good ... good." he commemorated. "Soon, The Duke will learn who his allies, and who his foes really are ...." -
That's a shame - but there is still time yet to get something done. Something is better than nothing! ;)

Thank you Nigel, the map has been approved! The points are as follows: @Nigel - 3 Feedback The map was very well constructed, and the landscape was very cleverly put together - I particularly like the waterfall and the water that can be walked over. The idea of having the iron transported over the water to your village is a really good idea. It was a very tough map with the starting number of troops which you received. It required you to use them very effectively and it took me several attempts to actually complete the mission. The landscaping was very well detailed and the numerous cliff heights looked very impressive. It was a very good map - congratulations on being entered into the draw!

Hmm. For some reason my post has disappeared from here. Sorry for not replying too, email would be fine. You'll find it in my profile. -
How did you manage to change the firing speed? Even I have no idea how to do that.
