  1. Great, thank you. And it's wonderful to hear everything seems better for you than they were. :)
  2. I was referring more about how to actually make a tunnel work with an entrance. We do have an article on secret passages, [ see here ] but I just can't understand how to make entrances to those passages. I've tried for hours and hours, but have never been able to get anywhere.
  3. I've never actually been able to understand how to build a tunnel entrance, although I've tried many times I just can't work out how it's done. Would you be able to provide some kind of example map for this?
  4. Your challenge is: Complete the Stronghold Crusader map Adnan in the shortest possible time. 5. Congratulations @Tokamaps, on a truly five star map! The landscaping of this map was extremely impressive, one of the best detailed maps of that size I've ever seen. The animations .etc. at the start were also very good and set the storyline well. You hereby win this challenge, and receive 3 points! Could you also upload this to the downloads section - I think a lot of people would like to see this map. :) Also, if you send me a PM with the title you'd like, I can get that changed for you.
  6. You just post in the Competitions forum but instead of getting redirected back to your topic, you get redirected to the forum. I (and the rest of the team) will get a notification once it's been posted so it can be approved straight away.
  7. Welcome @Timballisto! Fantastic to have you here with us =) I promoted you so you can now post links here, and have all the other privileges too - welcome! As Crusader says, we have an excellent downloads section, set of articles and Gallery - we even have our very own History Quiz and regularly updated threads on History, Myths and UFOs and Conspiracy theories in The Open Castle Inn! If you would like to contribute at all, please don't hesitate! :D In regards to your contest, I've promoted you now so you should be able to post an official topic in the Competitions forum (if you'd like), but it will need approval first by a staff member. The reason for this is to prevent people from spamming the Competitions forum of creating posts in there filling it up with unofficial competitions, .etc. In other words, it's to keep it to a real list of competitions.

  10. You'll have a wireless adapter, I presume, but this is exactly what I thought was wrong - it appears to be a very common problem with both Windows 8 & Windows 10, that people lose their internet connection easily and don't get wireless communication. If I have the right computer, the Acer Aspire you added in your initial post, then from what I've seen it should have a wireless adapter. I certainly would be extremely surprised if it didn't. I would also recommend you check in Device Manager again under "Network Adapters" and let me know if you can see anything. So the problem is that whatever driver you've installed for wireless communication is not working. Unfortunately, you're in the same boat as me; Acer have removed all the drivers for any version of Windows other than Windows 10 in an attempt to force people to upgrade, so if the Windows 10 drivers don't work, basically, wireless is broke on your computer. Luckily in my case, my computer came with Windows 10 pre-built, so it does work in a fashion on Windows 8. But you're using an older driver on a newer system, so I'm not so sure it will. The only other option is to try and somehow get your hands on one of your old wireless drivers, but again, it doesn't really look as if that could work, because it probably isn't compatible with Windows 10 - and where you'd find them, I have no idea. You can download the correct drivers for your device here: http://www.acer.com/ac/en/GB/content/drivers
  11. Ah, ok - I understand it now. Yes, it's definitely a driver error. The reason why your computers can't connect even when connected to the router is because the router is purely for internet access, you're assuming by connecting to the router it will automatically give you wireless access around, which it doesn't. For this, you need the specific wireless communication driver which allows your computer to connect and view wireless devices. In other words - the reason you can't get Wi-Fi and the reason you can't connect to those computers is down to a fault in the exact same driver. Here's a quick test. Check if your WiFi is actually enabled or visible - I was using Windows 8, so the accessibility may or may not be there in the same manner. But for me, the option wasn't even visible because the driver wasn't installed. I've just checked, and it appears from this link above, you can get it through the settings app, which is what I used. See under Managing your wireless connections on the page I link to. If the symptoms are exactly the same, you should also have some kind of red icon saying no Wi-Fi is available once you've unplugged your Ethernet cable:
  12. Goodman and the others went to have a drink in their favourite spot next to the window overlooking some of the gardens. It wasn't long before Goodman noticed a servant rushing from the outside maze towards the nearest stairwell in what appeared to be a frantic rush. Nothing more was thought until a few minutes later when another servant entered and came straight to Goodman, whispering in his ear "My lord, his lordship requests your presence immediately, please follow me." Goodman nodded to the servant so as not to give away the reason he was leaving, then signalled to the others he would be back soon. He hastily followed the servant. They went through a part of the castle where Goodman had never been before, venturing up and down several corridors which all looked the same, before eventually arriving at the familiar scene of the Duke's quarters. On entering the room, the Duke was in the centre with servants attending to his armour and Sir Richard was also in attendance along with one other man Goodman did not know talking to Sir Richard. The two looked up at Goodman, who gave the Duke a half-puzzled look almost wondering what was happening, but after a second or so, the Duke spoke with clear urgency in his voice. "Section 34a of the gardens is under attack by a large force of Imperial Wolverine guard, by a man supposedly named 'Viscount Armundus'"
  13. Those are generally the games I'm referring to, although games like Cossacks, I'm stunned actually work. I couldn't get that to even install on Windows 7. Haven't read the rest of your post yet, but from this my guess is that it's a case of the drivers not being recognised. So your Acer must be plugged in with an Ethernet cable to access the router? If so, this is definitely driver-related, I had the exact same problem. You'll need to get the wireless communication driver if this is the case. If this is not the problem, could you explain what now is happening? I'm a bit confused with all the different explanations :D Also - regarding the GameRanger router error, I have the exact same problem, it's nothing to worry about. All it means is that a very small percentage of players (less than 5% I believe) will not be able to connect with you when you try to play online.
  14. Your challenge is: Reconstruct a typical Crusader State Castle from The Kingdom of Edessa in the Stronghold Crusader editor Information: Structure requires some skill with regards to water bisecting Castle. 15. I had a very similar issue, only a lot more serious when I downgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 8 on my Acer Aspire E5-773-579L. It appears although you can "explore without limits", you can only do this if you keep the item in exactly the same way it was when you purchased it (from my experience with this). In my case, no supported drivers were available for Windows 8 and I lost all access to the internet. My video driver crashes sporadically, my wireless sometimes now turns on and off at random, and I have received a regular number of BSODs, apparently for random reasons. I always assume that the vast majority of them are because of my graphics driver crashing, though I can't ever prove it. Luckily for me, the Windows 10 drivers for the same product worked, in a fashion, as I explained. Updating the drivers could have caused an issue or maybe more, from my first-hand experience, and from what I've seen, Windows 10 is extremely unstable. It's crashed, corrupted and destroyed the data on someone's SSD who I know, it updates randomly as it chooses, and it sends out thousands of connections to the Microsoft servers even after you disable this in privacy settings. I've also seen cases where even though specific drivers are supported by Windows 10, and are listed as being so, they will not work with the produce, no matter what. Slightly going off topic now from what the original topic was for (and I thought of this because you mentioned SHC), but if you're using Windows 10, you will now lose all access to playing a lot of old games, they will not work on Windows 10. Full stop. Just outright will not work, and there is no fix. This is to blame: https://myonlinesecurity.co.uk/september-2015-windows-updates-kb3086255-breaks-many-games/ If you're running another version of Windows which is lower (e.g. 8.1, 8, 7 .etc.), then you can use the fix available in the article. But on Windows 10, it cannot be fixed at all. Here is an interesting question - did it work with the old drivers (after the Windows 10 upgrade), before you updated them to the newer version? Does your computer have any difficulty connecting to the internet at all, or any wireless communication in any format, or is it purely LAN that it will not work on. Also, have you tried In regards to HomeGroups, they usually are in separate HomeGroups, though if you had them in the same before the upgrade, perhaps this has been mishandled by Windows 10, which wouldn't surprise me at all. GameRanger does not connect over LAN, and connects over the internet, I believe, in all circumstances. This is very likely why you can connect here. In addition to the checks above, could you also take a look in device manager, and check for missing divers? I think it's highly probable you're either missing a driver of some kind, or Windows 10 has "gone buggy" again, and not recognised a valid driver you have.
  16. I'm also disappointed we got no entries for this. :( But ... you could make a map, and upload it to the downloads section- I'm sure I'm no the only one who would love that :D
  17. Your challenge is: Design a new opponent in Stronghold Legends named "Lord Theodoric" to replace an opponent of your choice. You should include a skinned DDS file and Lord (including Weapons), Avatar, Crest, Skirmish Opponent Image and include your new Lord in the game's loading screen. 18. I hope that they do, this is a great achievement. I already have Stronghold Legends though, so I see little point in me getting it. I will be very disappointed if they only release the updates on Steam and do not give them to players who already own the game.
  19. Your challenge for this week is: Create a replica of the city of Osgiliath from The Lord of The Rings in the Stronghold 2 editor. The map should also be scripted so that the player must defend it from Ork attacks and survive every one with limited supplies Useful resources http://www.stronghold-nation.com/article/39-how-to-make-ruins http://www.stronghold-nation.com/article/186-a-map-editor-tutorial http://www.stronghold-nation.com/article/77-triggers-and-events-overview http://www.stronghold-nation.com/article/1-map-editor-overview http://www.stronghold-nation.com/article/239-making-hidden-pathways Note: Your entry must be attached to this topic by Midnight on Saturday to be counted in this challenge (20/8/16 23:59). 20. They don't have to be the only way, but try to vary it as much as you can.
  21. With numerous things to do this this week, unfortunately I forgot to post this challenge. You'll get until next Saturday to completely his challenge for that reason. I do apologise. Your challenge is: Create a Skirmish map with 3-4 castle sites on high ground with bridges and stairs in the Stronghold Crusader editor. Make it exciting to play and hard to defeat at least two AI positions! 22. While I understand why you attempted to "test", and I do know that in normal circumstances, you wouldn't post it, you shouldn't have done this. There was an announcement out at the time that we were having issues with emails, and you had just posted this topic asking for help. That should have been up to a moderator to test. That was a pre-generated auto-moderation action to add that reply and move it to the Lion Tooth Dungeon.
  23. This was as a result of the email issue; emails weren't working so when the forum attempted to send the subscription emails for the topic you were replying to it couldn't. This issue has been fixed now.
  24. Thanks @Monstertomete for the template map you posted to. I've linkified your link, and promoted your account so you should have full privileges now. Welcome! =)
