Adventure #01 - A Duke in Distress
Crusader1307 replied to Charles of Tours's topic in Adventures in the Duchy of Riverbourne
Goodman too wondered about this "mystery man", seen in The Tavern. Was he friend? Foe? How was he taken and imprisoned so quickly? "Tell us, who are you? and What have you done to warrant such treatment?" -

Goodman thinks. "Perhaps a Silken Cord" to the first man to return to us". At any rate, I think - depending on they way they return, is the way we strike. Look..." Brother Goodman motions to a small chair and table (somewhat worm eaten, but still stout). "Break this apart and make stabbing tools, as quietly as you can." (OOC) Okay, we're getting desperate here! If they come back set to kill us, we will have to "Dirty Dozen" them. We are going for broke here, people! :D :D :D -

Adventure #01 - A Duke in Distress
Crusader1307 replied to Charles of Tours's topic in Adventures in the Duchy of Riverbourne
Goodman mused over the "removal" of his past "Guest". Luckily for he and his companions, he had removed the body (and all traces). Patiently and contritely he waited for the Commander to conduct his search. "Yes..Yes..Afendi, search...and if you see something you like...." Goodman trailed off. Hopefully this tactic will get them into the Castle. Casually, Goodman began to take in the defenses he could see. The number of Guards at this entrance, their weapons etc. -

"Merchants, Afendi, Merchants"......Goodman spoke in his best "Middle Eastern twang". "We bring fine bolts of cloth and spirits for the Lord of this Castle". Goodman hoped that the promise of free gifts would at least warrant an audience with the Guards Commander. -

The wagon with the intrepid warriors moves on. With the rising fog and mist, their visibility was greatly hampered. Goodman mused to himself, "We must see the back side of The Duke's fortress to see if their are any Posterns. Such a break would aid us greatly". The group spies the rising wall through the fog. "Be mindful of Archers, Lads" Goodman speaks aloud and softly. -

Goodman quickly returns to the departing wagon, having "disposed" of several large bolts of "moth eaten cloth". He was also carrying several chamber pots. "Wait, Lads. I had to dispose of my Guest. Suitably weighed down, he will be no further problem". Goodman ponders to himself. "We need to begin our plan and attack soon". -

"Tell your plan, Sir Lloyd"...Goodman said with anticipation. -
To answer your earlier question, ......... Yes, I was in the US Army for 8 years (Small Weapons Specialist). My rank was Sergeant (among my many talents!) ;)

Actually, it's NOT bad at all. I'd leave the music your using. I liked the music when your Air Cav Squadron was deploying over the city (or town). Kinda reminded me of some places I've been to when I was "in Service". It's good as it is (my opinion). :D :D :D

Goodman spoke up. "Caution, gentle friends. First let us go to the wagon - calmly. I noted the Market Place. We shall make our way there and set up our wares. On the way, I saw a small bog near the forest. We shall relieve ourselves of my "guest". Julian, what did the note say? Is The Duke dead?"" -
To the point Matthew, "Give 'em a Broadside, Lad" :O

Okay, how about "O Fortuna" by Carl Orff. Being Classical, there may not be any copy issues at all. Same with Richard Wagner. Both of these composers have dark, moody and war-like tones. My opinion.

"Steel up, Lad." Brother Goodman tells Sir Lloyd. "We will tell the others and get rid of that cowardly creature in the wagon". Let's go inside and look at what this paper I took from him says." In truth, Goodman did not know if the others would stay, or even if the peasants could be trained to fight. He needed to gauge the othe's opinions first. -

Goodman stood in the doorway. Looking at Sir Lloyd he announced "We have several problems, my friend." Goodman slipped his hand into his robe and pulled out the Assassin's knife. Handing it to Sir Lloyd he continued, "That man I left with, was no man but a dog of an Assassin who not only stated The Duke was dead, but that he was responsible for His Lordship's father and brothers murder. His soul is in Hell, but his body is in our wagon". Goodman handed the piece of paper he had retrieved from the body of the Assassin to Sir Lloyd. "I need a drink, what thinks you of this?" -

Unknown to the "Messenger", Brother Goodman brings up his right hand (already clutching his own dagger - always at the ready). At an angle roughly on line with his enemies lower abdomen, Goodman strikes true - while pivoting far right and out of the way of his opponent's lunge. "Join your Master in Hades, Dog!", Goodman says in a hushed tone. Now with Goodman "facing" the Assassin, he reaches out with his left hand - clutching his enemies mouth shut. With his right, Goodman grabs the hilt of his dagger. Twisting it clockwise - he pulls it out. Blood stains the lower portion of his robes. Goodman stares. More blood...Crusader, Muslim or Assassin...yet more blood. "I will have to clean this up before I go in." Looking down at his (now dead) adversary, Goodman begins to search his clothes for any pieces of information or other intelligence. Find a small piece of paper and some coins, he takes it (and the Assassins blade). Grabbing his own dagger, Goodman cuts away the bloodstained portion of his robes. "I am a poor beggar Merchant after all, he chuckles". Carefully, he wraps the body of the dead Assassin up in some cloths (so that it resembles a bolt of cloth). "Now, what to do with this"......... -

Brother Goodman stands stunned. This was not something that he had factored in. Would his companions still follow the mission? He was unsure. Steadying himself he asked the Messenger, "Who command's now? and what of The Duke's troops? They are not disbanded, are they?" -
Agreed! A lot like "Shogun". Looks VERY good! :)

Adventure #01 - A Duke in Distress
Crusader1307 replied to Charles of Tours's topic in Adventures in the Duchy of Riverbourne
"A message from The Duke", Goodman thinks. Looking over at his comrades, he attracts Sir Loring's attention. As he rises, he motions for him to remain and show no notice. The stranger and Brother Goodman move towards the door of the Inn. Goodman speaks aloud..."Why yes, Afendi- we do sell that special type of healing oil! Kindly follow me to my wagon and I will show you!" The two exit the Inn and head straight for the wagon. "This way, Afendi...This way..." Climbing into the wagon, Goodman (knowingly taking a risk) says "You have word....." -

Without drawing attention to himself, Brother Goodman lets his hand slowly drop just inches away from his dagger. "Aye, I am Goodman. What do you wish of me , Sir?"
