This is too bad. The Welsh language is amazing. I wouldn't even attempt it (I tried Gaelic once - way worse). I'll stick to Latin. Too bad most people in Wales don't embrace their history and language.......

Welcome to The Site, Rushboy. You will find something that will interest you, I guarantee it. We have some very talented players and map makers. Hope to see you on the many Threads.
-
True. But many resisted the Marcher Lords for many years still. My point is it is not like you are leaving as enemies. You just wish to someday develop into your own Welsh identity (not that you aren't ?now). Vote. If the majority wishes to stay or leave so be it.
-
Another dumb question from "The Yank" (my Southern blood hates that). Wales was independent before England. Why do you thinkshe could not now? England said that about The US once........
-
As a "European" your are more in tune than I am (although I try to be as much as News Research will let me). You sound 100% right about it. And yes, when your "Young" you know everything........until the "veil" gets ripped away :p Personally, let everyone "be" as they wish to be. I bet "we" as a "Human Community" would get along better. Most of our Wars are from failure to understand cultural or religious issues. Who cares what you believe in or how you live your life. As long as you respect basic human dignity and independence. Now we all must follow our "laws" (that's a token of civilization that sadly is NOT respected). But we (as Humans), cause more harm than good in trying to create our (as Sir Thomas More put it in the 16th Century)....."Utopia".

Okay, so "swimming" into the Land of........"What do I Know, Anyway"??? :D ? ? Would be safe to assume that IF Scotland left, then all their benefits do to. England would (and I suppose they would go back to being called "England" strictly) - save much of these "free resources". The more to use in their Country. Let the other 3 start their own systems. This is what happens when you wish to be "independent". I base this on simple historical reference. IF The Confederacy of America (1861-65) HAD been independent (as they so fervently wished), just how would they have styled themselves? They would have had to develop EVERYTHING on their own (treaties, etc). Facing a "big wide World", which vied for control of former Colonies - how long could they have lasted without the old majority help (a larger Union). While a free educational system is wonderful (and should be to some extent) - what does Scotland give in return? Is it seen mostly from a defensive position for England with regards to it's outward (and inweard defense - England's that is?). The same for Wales. And Ireland? I never fully under stood any of the 3s basic importance to Britain in the first place (aside from "Medieval Philosophy") - eg "Kingmaking" and expansion of Empire.
-
It's not as if you guys would break ties or build a wall (although Ireland might). You were separate once. How great an impact would it have??
-
Can't resist this one either, Matt. I highly recommend you find or research an old late 1960s or 1970s movie called "Wild in The Streets". Believe it or not it may answer many of your questions. Let me know if you do. It was a book too, I think. Personally - and this will tick of my English friends, let Scotland, Ireland and Wales go.? It is the 21st Century. THAT story is older than old, is it not?
-
I am very strange for your average American. Having the good benefits of living all over my Country as well as Europe and The Far East (during my early years) was a great help in this. I call it as it is seen. Right or wrong, my Country or another. "Rebel" ...Tis an honorable name! (Lol)

Generally, most Americans can get culturally and racially biased. As for Muslims, it due to 9/11. They perceive or are told who an enemy is and there it goes. I can't readily tell you why we are like that. Even Muslim-Americans get dragged into that (which isn't right either). Unless a mentally ill person has a file (pass arrests, etc) - The System just assumes.... (again this is wrong). Another telling issue is that most Americans dislike their Government probing that deep into their affairs (regardless if it is justified or not). This is another example of how much "freedom" is actually our birthright.? You can be sure from a Historians point of view that the framers of our Constitution had no idea that Government would become so near sighted with gun control laws. They probably never imagined that basic common sense would be so twisted out of shape to begin with.? If they were still alive, do you think that they would have amended the 2nd Amendment? Sure they would've. ?I don't think in their wildest imagination they envisioned mass shootings as a "way of life".? Only the people can change the law and this can only be done through election. Unfortunately, ?most Citizens don't vote. And when they do, it is from "off the hip" emotion. Personally, I would fire both Houses and start afresh. Believe it or not, this was us what American Statesman Thomas Jefferson said for us to do IF the Government got to complacent.?

On behalf of all the wonderful and scary Americans, thank you. Although the primary reason was to defend ourselves against Native Americans, The French and of course The English. (Lol) The "killing ourselves" comes much later......... As I have said, I am a firearms owner (and carried one for work) as scary as that sounds. You would be amazed at the number of citizens that don't own them and don't want too either. HOWEVER it is always the nuts, radicals and related psychopaths who do and get the Press.? Now I purposely stayed away from this several weeks long discussion for a reason. But as "Michael Corleon" said in "The Godfather"........"They keep pulling me back in".

Wow.......................

I think with the case of Electronic keyboards ?you can sustain a note better. I don't know. ...I could ?never figure it out. Billy Joel is fine. Almost everything he has written went Gold over the years. I remember that he dominated American music for a time. Every other song on the radio was his. More partial to his Rock stuff, I suppose my favorite slow song of his was "New York State of Mind". Keep practicing - you will get it!
-
Keyboards, a little Piano (VERY little), although how I can play Keyboards is a mystery :D A tad with Drums and of course my favorite - The Blues Harmonica (of which I am somewhat good). I taught myself The Fife (I am a Historian, of course)................. And no, I won't post a Video (Ha). I love ALL kinds of Music. My "Periods" are vast and unique. From Classical to Hard Rock, from Pop to of course Punk and Heavy Metal. It all depends on my "Mood" any given day. I love discussing Classic Rock and Blues (of course).

Not being a SH2 Expert, as with other games I too have tricked out with landscape and whatnot, I have found a limited amount of data which can be placed. Still, yours is an impressive forest and landscape nonetheless. And your Castle is very interesting as well. I hope you put some of your work into our Downloads Section!

Announcing ... The StrongholdNation History Quiz!
Crusader1307 replied to Lord_Chris's topic in The Town Crier
Both pronounciations, actually. "Katherine" (from The Castillian "Caterina" of which she was) which was "Englished" of Catherine (when Henry's VIIIs Brother Arthur married her). The "Catherine" version simply carried on with Henry VIII (when he married her) - ahh, those Tudors!. Heck, The Germans would use "Katarina" as would The Russians. Look at our Shalespeare - he used "Kate". It is really a matter of Spanish or English usage - both are correct and I would "pass" you for either usages in Class (Ha). -

Questions About Military Procedures
Crusader1307 replied to Mathew Steel's topic in The Open Castle Inn
Never a problem, Matthew. In return...... 3. Yes and No. ANY combat mission is dangerous, but the more specialized assaults are performed by Elite Forces...so you are correct, Sir. 4. In The American Army, we are governed by The UCMJ (Uniform Code of Military Justice). Rules of Engagement are often covered within it. If we violate it (regardless how we don't agree with it), we can be brought up on charges and punished accordingly. MANY soldiers do not agree with The Rules, but as I said before..... 5. With the reposting of ALL my photos, my Artiles Index is woefully off. There is an article (and I will get the exact page for you) on Hat Brass Insignia (primarily American Civil War) which explained it MUCH better (I worked all night last night so my neurons are WAY off,? :D). But no simply C-1-4 (as explained) is sufficent. One is numbered in a Squad (but it is mostly used for Drill and not in combat or related operation...again in The American Military. I may later on do a series of Articles on this (let me see how I can work it in). My photo "horror" is almost over. I will see what I come up with. "Soldier On!" -
Questions About Military Procedures
Crusader1307 replied to Mathew Steel's topic in The Open Castle Inn
Okay Matthew... here we go. First, let me preface my responses with my background. I served in The US Army (during the 1980s) as a Small Weapons Specialist (no great stretch of imagination there, huh? :) ). As such I spent much of my time working very closely with "The Combat Arms" (namely training people how to use their weapons and properly delpoy them - ala small unit tactics). Additionally, I was a Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Weapons Rated NCO (briefly). So, as to your questions. 1. "Actual" have various meanings (in various Eras). In The 1980s it meant an authentic (or real) component of something. The Commander, The Enemy, etc. In Artillery or Rocket use on the battlefield, "Actual" is often used to verify true and accurate coordinates of a "fire mission" or strike. 2. Activation Codes may really be "Authentication Codes" to verify a "friendly from a foe". Again this is a matter of what Era you served in. This was used (in my day at least) - as a form of verifying via radio communications. 3. FORGET movies! VERY few of them are accurate. I could give you a short (very short list). However (even in my day), small Special Unit assaults were VERY known. For The US ARMY it is The Rangers and Special Forces who mostly operate like this. Each may has multiple skills and talents (every soldier is cross trained this way in this type of Unit). In this way, they can cause maximum damage to an enemy. Today it is The US Navy Seals, Delta Force and of course British SAS. 4. Rules of Engagement have existed (in The American Army and even in European ones) - for Centuries. In todays standards, they are clear cut defined policies for engaging? a hostile force (mostly in an Urban environment). First coming to Public light in The Vietnam War, much of the "testing" went horribly wrong (due to poor intelligence gathering). The most common Rule is to NOT fire one's weapon UNLESS one is taking direct confirmed (yeah right) enemy fire. Additionally, one must NOT engage an enemy when they are in non-combatant locations. Most soldiers have little regard for these Rules but........... 5. YOU HAVENT BEEN READING MY THREADS HAVE YOU??.? In most Unit identifiers, the numbering is quite simple. C14 for example would be read as "Charlie Company, 1st Platoon, 4th Squad". Further, an American "Company" may have 5 Platoons of 4 Squads each. Each Squad may have as many as 10 soldiers in it (do the math). This formula is often greatly altered due to type of Unit and and actual manpower deployment. Each Branch of Service uses a similar formula, but they often have a different naming system. The Air Force using Squadron, The Marines add the term Force and The Navy well they are REALLY confusing. Further, look into NATO designators..........even worse! ??:) Hope these explanations didnt confuse you even more. There is MUCH more to it (I just gave you the quick explanation). Hope it will help you in some way. If you have any more questions please feel free to ask. I am here to help answer your questions. -

APOLOGIES TO ALL FOR NEGLECTING THE QUIZ. I HAVE BEEN UP TO MY TASSETS (AN ARMOR JOKE) IN FIXING THE HISTORY (ET ALL) THE OTHER THREADS PHOTOS. PLEASE BEAR WITH ME. -
Even more impressive Strife. Excellent work on the B-17. I too like Warbirds. You really should put them to color (they really are very nice). At some point in the distant future, I will focus some Articles on WW2 Warplanes. I do already have some WW1 Aces Articles posted you might like (with a few Sopwiths and Fokkers).
