Stronghold Legends has seen numerous official patches during its active support time. For archival purposes, a collection of patch notes can be read below, detailing most applicable changes. 

Note: some of the original note entries have been reworded and/or added extra clarification info.

Patch 1.1 (released 2006-11-01):

Bug Fixes

  • CTF and Economic War icons removed from Custom Skirmish mode
  • Option tabs no longer appear to be selectable, even though they are not
  • Maps & save games display properly for all resolutions
  • Dragons can properly be ordered to attack structures
  • Units on top a gatehouse properly take damage when the gate is destroyed
  • User maps display their titles properly instead of "Enter the Dragon"
  • Troop selection is cleared after a building is selected
  • Halting production for a single building works properly
  • Troops no longer move at double speed when double clicking RMB
  • Mission Briefing information no longer scrolls slowly
  • Downed carters no longer display a Wood icon when carrying armory equipment
  • Lookout tower rubble no longer floats slowly after crumbling
  • Units cannot climb terrain improperly
  • Windows Quicklook (preview feature on window mouseover) feature no longer results in losing mouse control
  • Troops no longer walk through over the armory when embedded in wall
  • Difficulty can no longer be overridden during a game
  • Voice line "Do you ever get that feeling of de ja vu?" now plays instead of being absent

Patch 1.1.1 (released 2006-11-08):

Features

  • Improvements to multiplayer connectivity
  • Added map transfer system (in multiplayer games, the map chosen by the host is transferred to players not owning it)
  • Added LAN game filter to multiplayer lobby
  • Removed ability to change team for Guest players in multiplayer

Patch 1.2 (released 2007-02-03):

Features

  • Added hotkeys for some buildings and rally points
  • Added Awards
  • Added Freebuild mode
  • Added option to turn off special units in Multiplayer
  • Added Multiplayer game chat
  • Added faction lock option for host in Multiplayer (right click on own alignment to toggle)
  • Added numbered hotkeys for recruitment buildings
  • "SH Legends data.csv" can be modified to influence single-player balance
  • Players can select their color in Skirmish & Multiplayer
  • Added a yellow "!" over buildings that cannot function due to resource shortage, or store being full
  • Added ability to delete saves and user maps
  • Added setting to turn off tooltips
  • Cows splat on landing
  • Added buttons in the menu to navigate to previous menus
  • Added ability to create screenshot with Alt + Q
  • Added team indicator and promotion message to Multiplayer games

Balancing

  • Mounted units dismount before climbing structures, regaining it on ground level again
  • Siege towers only eject passengers when only their units are in selection
  • Added "guard" option for units, tailing and staying close to a unit
  • Enchanted orbs deal splash damage (when the orb stops)
  • Ranged ground units move into range when attacking an enemy
  • Archers can push ladders off walls
  • Improved Bat unit AI during dive-bombs
  • Bats move over units before dive-bombing them on a keep
  • Bats are given a Stand Ground option to not engage
  • Stake Hurler, Fire Ballista and Enchanted Orb given only Stand Ground option
  • Improved catapults targeting gatehouses
  • Troop recruitment is disabled during Multiplayer peace time, with pre-placed buildings present
  • Added moat to all factions in Multiplayer
  • Frost Giants take more missile and fire damage

AI behaviour

  • AI-controlled White Witches aggro on units firing at them from a keep
  • AI troops aggro on Vampiric Creepers converting their units
  • Fixed Vlad production building limits

Bugfixes

  • Structures change theme when their estate changes faction
  • Werewolves can no longer be shot into water
  • Proximity markers for lords fixed
  • Used killing pits and man traps no longer refund resources when deleted
  • Industry structures stop when operating workers are frozen
  • Completed narrator and character bink assets
  • Lancelot no longer says "My Lord we cannot ride atop the walls" when he is not on a horse in the Lancelot chapter
  • Dragons time out correctly in Legends Trails missions
  • Fafnir in the campaigns has unique description
  • Fixed some wall placements regarding Oil Tipper and towers
  • Estates display correctly on the minimap when using the carter's post
  • Attempting to move Frost Giants through Ice Tunnels now displays a disabled cursor
  • Pantry no longer turns red when attempting to target it with a dragon
  • White Witches fire at troops on a keep in a high arc
  • Troops no longer stay afloat on top of destroyed towers
  • Troops get displaced when placing a gatehouse on top of them
  • Several Map Editor unit and visual fixes

Multiplayer Fixes

  • Players joining a lobby no longer shuffles starting positions
  • Lord powers cannot be used while a chat window is open
  • Economic War game start disabled when a multiplayer lobby is started with only AI opponents present
  • "Keep is enclosed" message does not play during the loading screen
  • Economic War cannot start when certain objectives cannot be completed due to building availability
