Here is the list of the English named greetings and the few special greetings that may be triggered when starting Stronghold 2.
The game will play these greetings if you start the game on the indicated date:
Date | Filename |
Voice Line |
Christmas, Dec. 25th | Cookie6.wav | Merry Christmas, my liege! |
New Year’s Day, Jan 1st |
Cookie7.wav |
Happy New Year, my lord! |
April 1st | Cookie8.wav | Gadzooks, why if it isn't April fools day! |
July 4th |
Cookie9.wav |
Happy 4th of July, my liege! |
These files will sound in the middle of the game if the trigger is met:

Playing the game in the wee hours of the morning |
Cookie2.wav |

Playing the game after midnight |
Cookie3.wav |

Playing the game for a long time | Cookie4.wav | My lord, now might be a good time to take a nap. |
Playing the game for an extremely long time |
Cookie5.wav |

When the game is first loaded, you are prompted to enter your name (which can subsequently be changed in the options). The game then will greet you according to your name each time you load the game, if it can match your name against a set of stock names. All of the greeting sound files are of the convention name###.wav.
If an exact match does not exist, then the game tries to match some part of the name you placed. For example, Lord Crian is not an entry in the files, but Lord Ian is. It matches the 'ian' of 'Crian' with 'Ian' from file name85.wav, 'Lord Ian', and so name85.wav plays when the game is loaded. So if you are using a name that was not supplied, either the nearest matching name will play, or the default greeting will play if no match was found.
The complete list of names is not included here due to space constraints. Some player names will play a funny exclusive greeting, however:
