White Wolves are a special unit in Stronghold Legends, and only available to players who are currently playing as the Ice faction.
They are recuited from The Ice Tower, costing just 15 gold and 5 honour. You can find out ways to generate Honour in the game here.
This tiny cost allows for White Wolves to probably be one of the most mass-produced units in your army. White Wolves are very fast and agile, and can cover a long distance very quickly.
This makes them idea for covering estates, re-capturing estates of reinforcing existing armies a long distance from your castle.
However, they are fairly weak in their attack strength, dealing very minimal damage, and can quickly be taken out with a few Archers. Macemen can also deal great damage against White Wolves.
However if you manage to find any enemy Archers on their own without any additional support such as protecting an estate, White Wolves are great units in a group for rushing these units and attacking them, often performing a lot of damage.
It's extremely important however to keep these units away from Crossbowmen, because they will decimate even groups of White Wolves due to the fact their bolts are so powerful, and that White Wolves do not have any real protection against arrows. Similarly, they haveno protection against aerial units, so even the smallest group of White Witches can do some serious damage against these units.
If you are planning on using White Wolves, it's important to keep them away from armoured units or other heavy units, unless you have absolutely no choice other than to engage them. If you must engage them, you should use a large group of White Wolves to inflict the maximum damage and result in the smallest loss, unless you are simply intending for these units to delay any attacks by the enemy.
They are best used to pick off weaker units, destroy buildings inside an enemy castle, or destroy enemy siege equipment. They are especially useful at darting around an enemy army to reach a siege camp. use these in conjunction with White Witches from an aerial point of view to totally destroy an enemy siege before it even starts.
They're also used well when an enemy army is in chaos, or retreating. Send in your main attacking force, then send in a large group of White Wolves to pick off and scatter the enemy units, supporting your troops.
The fast moving pace of the White Wolves will quickly reach the troops and cause even more distress and chaos. They can also climb up ladders, be stationed on walls, towers and gatehouses, and on the Keep. You can also use this to your advantage to protect existing castle defenders on your walls.
Tip: White Wolves are useful units when in a group, but are quickly overpowered by most units. However, their cheap recruitment cost means that they are expendable and very easy to mass produce. Combined with a fast movement speed, these units can be great assets to rely on when you need to out-think an enemy.
They are also excellent for rushing up on enemy ranged units that are, broadly speaking, only useful via a ranged attack, such as Merlin, the Ice Queen or the Sorceror. By doing this, you will prevent further attacks by these units against your actual army.
