Light Cavalry are the fastest unit in Stronghold 2. The units can quickly cover vast distances on your map, while outmanouvering ranged units. These units are ideal for quick attacks on buildings, particularly those left unprotected.

They are also excellent for taking out enemy siege camps or siege equipment while it is en route to your castle. Sending in Horse Archers with Light Cavalry is also a useful tactic which can cause a lot of trouble for opponents, especially with armoured units.

The attack strenght of Light Cavalry is as strong as that of a Spearmen, but they can move much faster around the map than Spearmen can. Note however that unlike with Knights, there is no way to make the rider dismount from his horse. If the rider is killed his horse is also killed with him, unlike Knights.

You can recruit Light Cavalry from the rank of Knight or higher. All you need is 40 gold and 2 Honour in order to purchase this Mercenary, along with 1 peasant from the campfire. Honour can be produced by the means shown in this article.
