Lone Campfires

How about a lone campfire in one of your missions where your troops are based? This tutorial will show you how to add campfires to your Stronghold 2 maps.

Note that this trick was discovered on Stronghold 2 version 1.4.1 and may not work on other versions accordingly. Additionally, this can only be used on small maps. This trick was discovered by Tokamaps, who deserves full credit for this, and the images were also very kindly provided. A thanks is in order to him for informing us. For this article, I am simply expanding on existing points he made.

When you first enter the editor, make sure you select a large map. Additionally, if you'd like to have this purely as decoration, ensure it's placed on terrain that does not have an estate assigned to it. The reason for this is because it will otherwise peasants will spawn from it having an odd affect on your map.

The first thing to do is go into the editor, ensure the large map is selected, then select the small map option.





If you would like to have the campire higher than the default level, complete this step otherwise miss it out. Resize the map back to large, then place the height wanted. Now, make the map small again.



The next step is actually to place the keep. Any keep will work for this trick.



Now, here is your campfire!
